About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dependable Heavy Equipment Yard Coordinator to support material movement and inventory operations in a busy steel fabrication and processing environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring structural steel components are safely transported, organized, and prepared for production activities and outbound shipments.
The ideal candidate has experience operating telehandlers, forklifts, or similar equipment and is comfortable working outdoors while maintaining a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
### What You'll Do
Operate telehandlers, forklifts, and related material-handling equipment to transport structural steel products throughout the yard
Move, stage, and organize steel components including beams, columns, plates, and fabricated assemblies for production and shipping requirements
Verify materials using shop drawings, material identification tags, pick tickets, and related documentation
Support shipping operations by loading trailers, assisting with load preparation, and coordinating material movement with drivers and production personnel
Monitor inventory locations and maintain an organized yard layout to support efficient workflow
Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair concerns as needed
Follow established rigging procedures and safe lifting practices when handling oversized materials
Maintain compliance with workplace safety guidelines and OSHA standards at all times
### Qualifications
Previous experience operating telehandlers, forklifts, or comparable heavy equipment
Background working in a steel fabrication yard, construction setting, industrial facility, or similar environment
Ability to safely move and position large structural steel materials such as I-beams, columns, and steel plate
Familiarity with reading blueprints, material tags, pick lists, or fabrication documents is preferred
Understanding of rigging fundamentals, load control, and safe material-handling techniques
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year
Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds when required
Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and commitment to workplace safety
