Patching Administrator

Coretek is seeking a highly motivated Patching Administrator to support the planning, testing, and deployment of operating systems and application patches across the enterprise and to external clients. This role focuses on execution, monitoring, and documentation while developing skills in patch management, system administration, and vulnerability remediation under the guidance of senior team members.
Key Responsibilities
· · Manage end-to-end patching activities, including deployment, monitoring, validation, and reporting for operating systems and applications.
· Perform pre- and post-patch checks, troubleshoot patching issues, ensure compliance, and escalate complex problems when required.
· Assist with emergency or out-of-band patching under supervision
· Support vulnerability remediation efforts by deploying approved patches and coordinating emergency or out-of-band patching activities.
· Track, manage, and communicate incident and request status throughout the lifecycle, ensuring timely closure and maintaining transparency with clients.
· Maintain accurate documentation including runbooks, knowledge base articles, patch records, and change management documentation while adhering to security policies.
· Support operational excellence by assisting with change management, backup monitoring, cross-team coordination, and training of new team members during regular and off-hours operations.
· Assist with back-up support and event management monitoring as required during non-patch cycle windows
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2-4 years of experience in IT operations, desktop support, or systems administration, NOC environment.
- Preferred Certifications – CompTIA A+, Network + or Security +
- Basic knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems
- Familiarity with patching concepts and system maintenance practices
- Exposure to patch management tools (e.g., SCCM, WSUS, Ivanti, Tanium, or similar)
- Introductory scripting (PowerShell or Bash preferred)
- Active Directory fundamentals
- Understanding of ITIL change and incident management concepts (preferred)
- Eagerness to learn and grow technical skills
- Good written and verbal communication
- Ability to follow procedures and ask questions when needed
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
- Occasional evening or weekend work during maintenance windows
- Mentorship and hands-on training provided
