About This Role
Axsome Therapeutics is seeking an Associate Director, Supply Chain to play a critical role in managing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain for our commercial and clinical products in the US and globally. This role will be responsible for overseeing supply planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, contract manufacturing relationships, and logistics to ensure seamless product availability. This role will also ensure that supply chain operations comply with Axsome’s Quality Management System as well as applicable US and global regulatory requirements. This role will bring deep expertise in pharmaceutical supply chain operations, a strong compliance mindset, and exceptional problem-solving skills, excelling in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
This position will report to the Vice President, Supply Chain and collaborate cross-functionally with teams including CMC, Quality, Finance, Program Management, Trade & Distribution, Commercial and Regulatory, as well as external vendors and global business partners.
This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.
Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and execute supply chain strategies to support commercial and clinical product needs in the US and global markets.
- Ensure an efficient and uninterrupted drug supply through proactive planning and risk mitigation.
- Support new product launches and implementation of product changes; act as the owner of the Change Control process as required by Axsome’s Quality Management System.
- Develop and maintain accurate supply chain documentation, including end-to-end supply chain process definition, Master Product Data Sheets, batch tracking and product genealogy.
- Oversee demand planning, forecasting, and inventory management to optimize supply levels.
- Partner with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) to ensure timely production, packaging, and distribution.
- Lead S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) processes to align supply with business needs.
- Manage relationships with CMOs, 3PLs, and other key supply chain and business partners in the US and
- Negotiate and oversee supply agreements, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and performance metrics.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with CMC, Quality, Finance, Program Management, Trade & Distribution, Commercial, and Regulatory teams to align business priorities and maximize value creation.
- Ensure supply chain operations comply with the GxP requirements as well as FDA and other global regulations as needed.
- Support audits, inspections, and quality investigations as needed related to supply chain operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline global operations in a virtual environment.
- Identify opportunities for process efficiencies, cost savings, and risk reduction.
- Implement and optimize supply chain tools, data analytics, and digital solutions to enhance visibility and decision-making.
- Provide support for commercial packaging artwork and labeling as needed.
- Foster strong communication and collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors and global partners.
- Perform other supply chain-related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or APICS certification preferred).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech supply chain management, with a strong understanding of end-to-end supply operations in a GMP environment.
- Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Proven expertise in pharmaceutical supply planning, demand forecasting, and inventory management, preferably in a multi-national environment.
- Experience working with CMOs, 3PLs, and global distribution networks.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, GDP, and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical supply chains.
- Proficiency in supply chain planning and ERP systems.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Flexibility to transition between strategy development and hands-on execution.
- Strong sense of urgency, ensuring critical tasks and milestones are completed on or ahead of schedule.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a dynamic setting.
- Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and external vendors and partners.
- Capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, adjusting workload to meet business needs.
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing deadlines and priorities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to support time-sensitive deliverables and global supply chain operations across multiple time zones.
Salary & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this role is $155,000 - $175,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location. Axsome offers a competitive employment package that includes an annual bonus, significant equity and a generous benefits package.
