As a technical writer at Ridgeline, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional product documentation and content experiences that help customers confidently adopt and maximize the value of our platform. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and fellow content professionals to create clear, accurate, and engaging documentation, in-app guidance, API references, release notes, and user-facing content. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies and AI tools, you will help evolve our content strategy, improve documentation quality, and contribute to scalable content operations that support our growing customer base.

This role is based in our San Ramon, CA office and follows a hybrid work model, with team members expected to work onsite at least three days per week to foster collaboration, innovation, and connection across teams.
The impact you will have
- Create clear, accurate, and user-focused product documentation, including user guides, release notes, API documentation, UI text, error messages, and in-app guidance
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers to understand new functionality and translate complex technical concepts into accessible content
- Develop and maintain documentation using structured authoring, topic-based writing methodologies, DITA, and XML-based content frameworks
- Improve existing content experiences by identifying opportunities for greater clarity, consistency, reuse, and discoverability
- Support content migration initiatives and contribute to scalable documentation processes within structured authoring environments
- Apply content standards, style guides, and documentation best practices while helping refine and evolve them over time
- Partner with fellow writers and content designers to deliver cohesive content experiences aligned with organizational goals
- Incorporate AI-enabled tools and workflows to enhance content creation, management, delivery, and user engagement
- Contribute to a collaborative environment rooted in ownership, learning, transparency, and continuous improvement
What we look for
- 5+ years of experience creating software product documentation and content experiences in SaaS, enterprise software, or similar environments
- Proven experience working on a dedicated software documentation or content design team
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience developing end-user documentation, UI text, and customer-facing content for software applications
- Strong expertise in topic-based authoring, DITA, XML-structured authoring, and content reuse strategies
- Experience working with CCMS platforms and XML-based authoring systems such as Heretto
- Familiarity with content migration projects and structured authoring implementations
- Knowledge of AI technologies and experience applying AI tools within content operations or documentation workflows
- Experience with documentation and collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, Git, GitHub, Confluence, Zendesk, or similar platforms
- Understanding of accessibility and localization standards and best practices
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn about cutting-edge technologies while cultivating expertise in a business domain/problem space
- An aptitude for problem solving
- Ability to communicate effectively

Bonus
- Experience working within the FinTech or investment management industry
- Experience contributing to successful high-growth software startups
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Kotlin, or JavaScript
- Experience reviewing or documenting code examples for developer audiences
- Hands-on experience with API documentation tools such as Swagger, Postman, or Insomnia
- Understanding of REST APIs, including endpoints, parameters, payloads, and response handling
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and Continuous Delivery practices
- Basic proficiency with front-end web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Compensation and Benefits
The typical starting salary range for this role is: $128,00 - $159,500.
Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amount listed above.
