Production Test Engineer (PTE)

Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 annually w/ full benefits
Location: Tucson, AZ (On-site – Raytheon Facility)
Schedule: Full-time, 9/80 work week (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Clearance: Active Secret clearance required (must be able to obtain/maintain)
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required

Position Overview

The Production Test Engineer (PTE) supports manufacturing test operations throughout the product lifecycle, including development, transition to production, sustained production, and depot activities.

This role is responsible for validating hardware against technical data requirements, troubleshooting test failures, and driving improvements in test processes, efficiency, yield, and capacity within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot test failures and provide clear, accurate rework instructions
  • Validate hardware compliance with technical data package requirements and test equipment
  • Develop and maintain test processes and flows
  • Support test capacity planning and analysis
  • Create and maintain spares strategies and test equipment obsolescence plans
  • Develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for:
    • Capacity expansion
    • New capabilities
    • Equipment lifecycle planning
  • Analyze test data, failure trends, and yield metrics to drive process improvements
  • Maintain and update test equipment technical data packages, including:
    • Drawings
    • Test procedures
    • Manuals
    • System software
  • Assist in fault isolation, diagnosis, and repair of hardware and test equipment
  • Lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) efforts
  • Perform risk assessments and support program risk reviews
  • Lead or support projects focused on improving test performance and efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain:
    • U.S. government security clearance (Secret)
    • ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) access
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on hardware integration and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience with technical documentation and writing
  • Experience with data analysis and interpreting test metrics
  • Experience executing or supporting projects
  • Strong understanding of technical documentation
  • Ability to multitask and develop practical solutions to technical challenges
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Work Environment

  • On-site at Raytheon facility in Tucson, AZ
  • Collaborative, fast-paced manufacturing engineering environment
  • Cross-functional interaction with engineering, production, and program teams
