About Felix

Founded in 2019, Felix is a digital healthcare company that puts the patient in control of their own health and well-being. We’re passionate about building technology and beautiful customer experiences to make healthcare more accessible (and more enjoyable) for all Canadians.

Felix is Canada's first end-to-end healthcare experience, providing online treatment, prescription delivery and ongoing care. We deliver care across a growing range of daily health categories such as weight loss, birth control, menopause, erectile dysfunction, acne and more.

Description

Felix is looking for a Product Engineer who can build excellent software, think deeply about product, and care about UX.

This is not a “take tickets and write code” role. You will own problems end to end: understand the user, shape the outcome, make the technical calls, and ship work you are proud of.

AI should already be a default part of how you work. We want someone who uses AI to move faster, prototype sooner, raise the quality bar, and make better product and engineering decisions.

What you’ll do

  • Own problems from ambiguity through launch.

  • Turn vague problems into clear product and technical decisions.

  • Collaborate closely with product, design, engineering, clinical, pharmacy, and operations teams.

  • Build across frontend, backend, data, AI integrations, and infrastructure as needed.

  • Work with Vue, PHP/Laravel, Python and supporting systems.

  • Build AI-powered product experiences that are useful, reliable, fast, and obvious to use.

  • Sweat the details: UX, copy, latency, edge cases, empty states, accessibility, privacy, and failure modes.

  • Improve reliability through testing, observability, monitoring, and thoughtful system design.

  • Mentor engineers and help raise the quality of product and technical execution.

  • Own what you ship.

Requirements

  • Ideally 5+ years of practical full-stack engineering experience operating at a Senior or equivalent technical level.

  • Strong full-stack experience across frontend, backend, and data-oriented systems.

  • Track record of shipping meaningful product features end to end.

  • Strong product judgment and comfort making decisions under ambiguity.

  • Strong communication around technical tradeoffs, scope, product decisions, and risk.

  • Good judgment around reliability, testing, observability, performance, accessibility, privacy, and maintainability.

  • Comfort using AI tools as part of your day-to-day engineering workflow.

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Have built AI-powered user experiences, AI-assisted workflows, internal AI tools, or AI-enabled operational systems.

  • Can show a portfolio, repo, demo, write-up, or shipped product that demonstrates how you think.

  • Have strong opinions about what makes software feel great, and you can defend them.

  • Have taken a vague problem and turned it into a clear, shipped outcome.

  • Notice product friction, unclear copy, slow flows, broken edge cases, and unnecessary complexity without being asked.

What this role is not

  • This is not prompt engineering.

  • This is not a narrow frontend or backend role.

  • This is not for someone who waits for perfect specs.

  • This is not for someone who ships whatever an AI tool gives them.

Benefits

  • Full medical, dental, and vision benefits.

  • Maternity and paternity policy.

  • 4 weeks vacation.

  • Competitive compensation.

  • Stock option grant.

  • Remote-first work from anywhere in Canada.

  • High-impact work at a growing digital healthcare company.

  • Collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Seniority

This role is designed for engineers who can operate with a high degree of ownership, judgment, and independence. In practice, that usually means senior-level experience, but we care more about demonstrated impact than title or years of experience.

We are also open to exceptional intermediate candidates who have strong agency, product judgment, and a track record of shipping meaningful work independently.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every qualification listed. Strong candidates do not always match every requirement exactly, and we do not want you to opt out prematurely if this work excites you.

We know that people from underrepresented groups are often more likely to underestimate the strength of their candidacy. Representation matters, and we are committed to building a team with a range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

Open vacancy: This posting is for existing vacancies at the company.

Location: Toronto, Remote (Canada). We have an office in Toronto, but are currently working remotely and open to candidates from anywhere in Canada.

Our commitment to an inclusive team culture means embracing diversity and offering equitable access to opportunities and resources for people who might otherwise be excluded. During our recruitment process, we provide accommodations at any stage. Candidates can communicate their accommodation needs to the hiring manager directly or by emailing [email protected].
