We are looking for Automation Service Engineering Associates I/II to join our growing Service Engineering team in support of clinical patient testing in one of our CLIA labs. The Automation Service Engineering Associate I/II will be responsible for delivering primary service response to laboratory operations at the Billion To One - Menlo Park (Oncology) location. The selected candidate will be part of a team responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate for this position is skilled in providing excellent customer service, troubleshooting errors with laboratory automation equipment, and maintaining detailed records of issues and resolutions. The role is an onsite position.
Shift Hours: Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday, 2:30pm-11pm (+30% PM Shift Differential)
Responsibilities:
- Work in a team responsible for service, support, and troubleshooting of automated processes and instrumentation
- Execute or coordinate routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Perform Installation, Operational, and Performance Qualification on equipment
- Troubleshoot and triage equipment issues and involve vendors as required
- Draft documentation related to equipment operation and maintenance as needed
- Suggest process improvements and design a plan to execute them
- Maintain organized equipment parts inventory and comprehensive equipment records
- Execute special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- BS degree in a scientific discipline
- Associate II: 1+ years of experience servicing Liquid Handlers, or 2+ years experience in a technical service role
- Familiarity with the basics of a coding language and flow control logic
- Understanding of clinical laboratory assays and their applications
- Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems with minimal direction
- Strong willingness to learn in a complex laboratory environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent documentation skills with working knowledge of Good Document Practices (GDP)
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with troubleshooting liquid handler scripts is desirable
- Programming and coding experience
- Experience working in a CLIA regulated environment
- Experience developing training programs and performing knowledge transfer
- Ability to effectively work in a team environment and build strong working relationships
- High degree of initiative and self-motivation

At BillionToOne, we are proud to offer a combination of a (1) base pay range (actual amount offered is based on experience and salary/equity options split that the candidate chooses), (2) generous equity options offering, (3) corporate bonus program, on top of (4) industry leading company benefits (free healthcare options, 401k match, very generous fully paid parental leave, etc.).
For this position, we offer a total compensation package of up to $84,891 per year, including an hourly rate of $28.90 - $32.84 per hour. Compensation is commensurate with experience and leveling.
