The Opportunity

Are you a rural accountant looking to take the next step in your career?

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Rural Accountancy Assistant Manager to join our growing Rural team. Working closely with our Rural Advisers and senior team members, you'll support a diverse portfolio of farming, landed estate and rural business clients, helping to deliver an exceptional service and trusted advice.

In this role, you'll take responsibility for the preparation and review of accounts and tax work, ensuring a high standard of technical accuracy and client service. You'll work closely with clients and colleagues across the business, building strong relationships and helping to identify opportunities to add value.

As an accountant with a modern approach, you understand the importance of taking a genuine interest in your clients and their businesses. Combining strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness, you'll play an important role in helping clients achieve their goals.

At Old Mill, we're on a journey to break the mould when it comes to providing outstanding Accountancy and Financial Planning services. As part of a collaborative and evolving team, you'll be encouraged to share your ideas, challenge the status quo and contribute to the continued success of our Rural service offering.

You'll also have the opportunity to support and develop more junior members of the team, helping them build their confidence, technical skills and experience.

Requirements

This role is ideally suited to an individual who is passionate about delivering excellent service to rural clients and enjoys building long-term relationships.

You will have experience preparing and reviewing accounts and tax work, ideally within a practice environment, and be confident managing your own workload while supporting others. Whilst ultimate sign-off responsibility will sit with more senior team members, you will play a key role in ensuring work is delivered accurately, efficiently and in line with Old Mill's quality standards.

You'll enjoy working collaboratively, sharing knowledge with colleagues and contributing to a positive team culture. Previous experience coaching or supporting junior team members would be beneficial.

We're committed to supporting career development and will help you continue to grow professionally, whether your aspirations are to deepen your technical expertise or progress into a more senior leadership role in the future.

Creativity, commitment and accountability are values we actively encourage. At Old Mill, you'll be empowered to be open-minded, challenged, passionate and helpful whilst building a rewarding career.

Benefits

At Old Mill, we go beyond the basics to offer a benefits package designed to support your personal and professional growth:

  • Generous Holiday Allowance – Start with 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase up to 5 additional days.
  • Celebrate Your Birthday – Enjoy an extra day off to celebrate.
  • Flexible Working – Hybrid working model with 3 days a week in the office, allowing for a great work-life balance.
  • Employee Assistance Programme – Confidential support available 24/7 for your mental, physical, and financial wellbeing.
  • Ongoing Professional Development – Full funding for your professional qualifications, with continuous learning opportunities.
