2539 - Senior Strategy Executive for Amazon XCM Europe

Amazon is the world’s biggest advertiser, and a flagship account for WPP, sitting in its own unit called WPP OpenDoor. As a Senior Strategy Executive working on Amazon XCM (Cross-channel marketing, the team responsible for advertising Amazon’s core retail offering including Amazon Prime), you will be of the experts behind data-driven campaign strategies. You will help the team develop strategic campaign narratives and including channel roles, and work closely with our 12 local market teams to formulate groundbreaking recommendations for the leading global online retailer. The overall WPP OpenDoor team is based across two hubs (London & Dusseldorf), and the Strategy team of seven is also split across both cities, with four in London.

This role does not require previous pure strategy experience – it will suit, junior analytical comms planners who are interested in stepping up and moving into their first strategy role.

Strategy development: You will help the strategy team design holistic, data-driven campaign strategies, by providing insights into consumers and previous campaigns.

Client consulting: As a key strategic contact, you will work with the team to advise the clients on the optimal use of media channels and communicate complex relationships in workshops and presentations.

Data analysis: Analysing and synthesising a wide range of data sources, from market and competitive data to brand measurement reports, will be part of your daily toolkit to derive clear strategic recommendations. You will receive training on all our key systems to help you complete these tasks with confidence.

Skills & Experience

Communications planning skills: You have some experience in the development of integrated upper-funnel media strategies and have a cross-channel understanding of the media landscape. Retail experience is a nice to have but is not mandatory.

Analytical skills: You have experience of using a range of data sources, combining them to help develop strategic recommendations, and you are already comfortable with several insight or planning tools. You are also a confident user of Excel or Google Sheets.

Communication skills: You impress with excellent storytelling in English, and have an ability to write clear arguments in written form – Amazon recommendations are delivered via written documents, not powerpoint presentations.

Client expertise: With a confident demeanour, you enjoy advising clients at a strategic level and answering questions around your recommendations.

Independent work: Your proactive, flexible and reliable work style enables you to efficiently manage projects and bring them to a successful conclusion.

International experience: While this role involves working on a strategy to be executed across 12 European countries, you do not need international experience as we have specialists in all 12 countries who we work closely with.
