Position:
The Membership & Special Event Sales Manager is responsible for the development, growth, and management of Discovery Cube Los Angeles’ membership program and event sales portfolio. This position oversees membership acquisition and retention while actively generating revenue through facility rentals, private events, and corporate events.
This role is highly guest-facing and sales-oriented, requiring strong relationship-building, communication, and closing skills. The Membership & Special Event Sales Manager will work closely with Operations, Marketing, Programming, and Development to ensure an exceptional guest experience and successful execution of all programs and events.
Responsibilities:
Membership Sales & Retention
- Develop and implement strategies to increase membership sales and renewals.
- Manage member acquisition, retention, and engagement initiatives.
- Train and coach staff on membership sales techniques and member benefits.
- Monitor membership performance and identify opportunities for growth.
- Analyze membership data and prepare sales and retention reports.
- Ensure a positive member experience through responsive customer service and relationship management.
Event & Facility Sales
- Actively sell facility rentals, private events and corporate events.
- Serve as the primary contact for event inquiries and sales opportunities.
- Conduct facility tours for prospective clients.
- Develop proposals, pricing options, and event packages.
- Follow up on leads and convert inquiries into confirmed bookings.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and track all opportunities.
- Meet or exceed established event sales and revenue goals.
Revenue Growth & Business Development
- Identify new revenue opportunities and partnerships.
- Develop promotional campaigns to increase memberships and event bookings.
- Build relationships with local businesses, schools, community groups, and organizations.
- Represent Discovery Cube at networking events, outreach activities, and community functions.
- Collaborate with Marketing on advertising and promotional initiatives.
Leadership & Staff Development
- Supervise and mentor membership staff and volunteers.
- Develop onboarding and ongoing sales training programs.
- Ensure staff understand membership benefits, event offerings, and sales expectations.
- Create a culture focused on guest service, accountability, and results.
Operations & Guest Experience
- Support front-of-house operations during peak attendance periods.
- Ensure smooth execution of member events and sales initiatives.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly.
- Collaborate with Operations and Programming to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or related field preferred, not required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of sales, membership, hospitality, event sales, or business development experience.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
- Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
- Experience managing staff and volunteers preferred.
- Experience with CRM systems, membership databases, and sales tracking tools.
- Knowledge of Galaxy/Gateway is a plus.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
