Student and Family Support

Process new McKinney-Vento referrals and establish direct connections with caregivers, parents, guardians, students and schools.

Advocate for McKinney-Vento and FORT clients with school staff, community partners, housing agencies, and service providers.

Mediate and resolve concerns involving parents, school personnel, supervisors, transportation staff, and community partners throughout Ingham County.

Provide technical support and routing assistance for behavioral concerns related to FORT transportation services and vans.

Participate in community outreach, engagement activities, and resource fairs to increase awareness of available services.
Program Coordination and Administration

Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate meetings, trainings and workshops as well as host program events.

Maintain inventory and oversee distribution of high-volume program supplies, materials, and resources.

Disseminate resources, guidance, and materials to consortium members and participating districts as needed.

Participate in district professional development opportunities and training activities.
Grant Management and Fiscal Oversight

Write, submit, and manage grant applications and funding opportunities.
-
Develop, monitor, and maintain grant budgets in collaboration with accounting and administrative staff.

Complete and submit monthly mileage reports, Personnel Activity Reports (PARS), PCard logs, and other required documentation in a timely, accurate manner.
Data Collection and Reporting

Maintain accurate and confidential records of identified McKinney-Vento students using Synergy, Google Sheets, and other approved data systems.

Collect, analyze, and compile consortium data for submission to the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and other agencies as required.

Monitor program outcomes and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
Collaboration and Technical Assistance

Provide technical assistance, guidance, and support to McKinney-Vento consortium districts regarding program implementation and compliance.

Collaborate with schools, state and federal agencies, and community organizations to support student success.

Serve as a resource to school personnel regarding McKinney-Vento laws, best practices, and available supports for students experiencing homelessness.
Professional Leadership and Representation
-
Participation with the Continuum of Care (COC) and other community networks.
-
Attend monthly MDE Grant Coordinator meetings and the annual Special Populations Conference.
-
Represent the organization in professional, community, and interagency partnerships.
-
Experience working with at-risk youth, families experiencing homelessness, educational programs, or community services.

Experience with grant management, budgeting, reporting, and compliance requirements.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and funding streams simultaneously.
-
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the consortium service area.
-
Experience with McKinney-Vento programs and federal education grants.
-
Knowledge of homeless education laws, educational rights, and community resources.
-
Experience coordinating consortiums, community partnerships, or multi-district initiatives.

Experience with Synergy student information systems and data management.
-
Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to homeless education.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative partnerships.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
