The role:

The Global Sustainability team looking for a new Circular Economy Manager located at our HelloFresh headquarters in Berlin. The sustainability team oversees all strategic sustainability topics for HelloFresh Group and works in close partnership with our 16 markets to realize the company's sustainability vision.

The successful candidate will report to the Team Lead, Sustainability, and be a core part of the Circular Economy and Sustainable Supply Chain team. You will play a critical role in advancing our sustainable packaging strategy and food waste reduction globally. Focusing primarily on our EU, ANZ, and UK markets, you will be instrumental in integrating sustainability into our operations to drastically improve our food waste performance and ensure compliance with evolving packaging and reporting regulations.

This is a dynamic role for someone who is both process-oriented and data-savvy. You will seamlessly flex between strategic, global oversight—such as managing CSRD reporting and developing data pipelines—and deeply operational execution, including hands-on site visits to reduce food waste across our global facilities.

What you’ll do

  • Operationalize Waste Reduction: Integrate sustainability into daily operations to improve waste performance across our global markets. You will regularly conduct site visits and waste audits, roll up your sleeves, and work directly with facility managers to identify and implement waste reduction, donation, and diversion opportunities.
  • EPR Packaging Strategy: Support the development and execution of our Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) strategy, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant packaging reporting across relevant regions.
  • Global Data & Reporting (CSRD & Relevant Local Reporting): Lead data reporting efforts for packaging and food waste in line with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive’s (CSRD) ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standard) E-5: Resource Use and Circular Economy, ensuring audit-ready data collection and validation.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Drive the development of robust data pipelines and streamline existing tracking processes to improve the efficiency and accuracy of our ESG metrics.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal stakeholders—including Communications, Business Intelligence (BI), Procurement, and Operations—to develop globally scalable oversight and align circular economy goals with broader business strategies.

What you’ll bring

  • Education & Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in sustainability, supply chain management, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Industry Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in sustainability, operations, or circular economy roles, preferably within the CPG, food, or retail industries, with a distinct focus on food waste and packaging ecosystems.
  • Operational & Process Focus: Highly process-oriented with a hands-on approach. You are comfortable bridging the gap between corporate strategy and facility-level operations, and are not afraid to get onto the warehouse floor to drive real change.
  • Data Savviness: Strong analytical mindset with experience in large datasets, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau), and (non-)financial sustainability reporting (CSRD, EPR).
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of sustainable packaging materials, waste valorization processes, recycling infrastructure, and international ESG reporting standards.
  • Agility & Stakeholder Management: Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. You can successfully influence and mobilize cross-functional, global teams across different time zones and cultures.

Communication: Strong written and verbal English communication skills; additional language skills (such as German) are a plus but not a prerequisite.
