Build a Safer World.
TRM Labs provides AI-powered intelligence solutions that help public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt crime. TRM's platforms enable investigators to trace illicit activity, build cases, and construct operating pictures of threat networks. Leading agencies and businesses worldwide rely on TRM to make the world safer and more secure.
The Legal team at TRM Labs sits at the intersection of blockchain intelligence, law enforcement collaboration, litigation and regulatory support, and operational integrity — helping TRM move quickly while maintaining rigor across a growing global legal function. This Paralegal role is purpose-built to own and continuously improve the legal workflows that matter most: law enforcement request intake, matter triage, litigation and regulatory support, AI-enabled legal infrastructure, and cross-functional knowledge management.
You will be the operating backbone of the Legal team, ensuring every request is tracked, prioritized, routed, and resolved with urgency and precision. You will help attorneys scale their impact by taking ownership of routine legal workflows, preparing structured research summaries, maintaining playbooks and templates, and continuously improving the systems that allow TRM’s Legal team to operate ahead of demand.
The impact you will have:
Own the intake, processing, and response workflow for legal requests from law enforcement, triaging, prioritizing, and routing every incoming request while maintaining full pipeline visibility so nothing falls through the cracks.
Partner cross-functionally with Law Enforcement Relations, Blockchain Intelligence, and Legal to answer routine legal questions, coordinate responses, and escalate novel or sensitive issues to the appropriate attorney.
Assist in providing litigation and regulatory support across the global enterprise, including matter tracking, document coordination, factual research, and preparation of attorney-ready summaries.
Build and maintain TRM’s legal AI infrastructure: prompt libraries, templates, playbooks, and knowledge-management systems that power the team’s velocity and allow attorneys to delegate routine matters with confidence.
Use AI research tools to support attorneys on relevant legal issues, preparing structured summaries that reduce attorney turnaround time on research-heavy matters.
Serve as a first point of contact for legal intake and cross-functional triage, helping ensure requests are routed quickly, status is visible, and stakeholders receive timely, actionable guidance.
Continuously identify and close workflow gaps — from matter intake to knowledge management — iterating on systems as TRM’s legal volume and complexity grow.
What we're looking for:
3-5+ years of paralegal or legal operations experience at a government agency, law firm, or in-house legal team, preferably supporting litigation, regulatory, law enforcement response, investigations, fintech, SaaS, or technology matters.
Experience managing legal intake, matter tracking, document workflows, litigation support, regulatory support, subpoenas, law enforcement requests, or similar high-volume legal operations processes.
Demonstrable AI fluency: you actively use tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or other AI research and drafting tools to accelerate legal research, summarize complex information, build reusable workflows, and improve team output.
Exceptional organizational skills: you own queues, maintain systems, track SLAs, follow through on open items, and proactively identify gaps before they become problems.
Strong written communication skills; able to translate legal concepts, procedural requirements, and factual findings into clear, actionable language for Legal, Law Enforcement Relations, Blockchain Intelligence, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
High-ownership mindset: you improve the processes you inherit, document what you build, and operate with the urgency TRM Speed requires.
Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive legal, law enforcement, investigative, regulatory, or litigation-related matters.
About the Team:
The TRM Labs Legal team is small, senior, and deeply embedded in the business — every member operates with high autonomy and is expected to own their domain end-to-end without hand-holding.
The team values speed, rigor, and pragmatism: we give the business the guidance it needs to move fast without compromising TRM's legal and risk posture.
This role is foundational to the team's AI transformation — you will help build the infrastructure that makes TRM's legal function genuinely AI-native, not just AI-adjacent.
Decisions are made fast, context is shared openly, and direct communication is the norm.
Team Operating Rhythms:
The Legal team operates distributed, not distant — async-first with strong Slack and Notion norms for handoffs and documentation.
All team members are expected to maintain at least a 4-hour overlap with PST business hours regardless of location.
Primary collaboration happens in Slack (#ask-legal, direct channels) and Notion; meetings are purposeful and outcome-oriented.
Weekly 1:1s with Wei Wang and periodic Legal team syncs to review pipeline, SLA health, and process improvement priorities.

Learn about TRM Speed in this position:
Within the first 30 days, take full ownership of the law enforcement legal request intake queue — triaging, routing, tracking, and maintaining visibility into every incoming request with minimal attorney oversight.
By Day 60, establish a reliable workflow for routine law enforcement requests, including intake standards, escalation criteria, response templates, and pipeline reporting that reduces attorney coordination time.
By Day 90, publish and maintain a legal AI infrastructure hub — including prompts, templates, research-summary formats, and playbooks — that enables attorneys to delegate routine legal research, intake, and matter-management tasks with a single Slack message.
