About the role
This is a fixed-term maternity cover for the Programming Manager, France / Benelux, starting the earliest available date, focussing primarily on the Netherlands.
We're at an exciting stage of growth, and are looking for someone to join our Programming team, to be a key player in shaping our content strategy in European markets. This is a combined role, where you’ll be working in both Programming and Licensing.
You'll work closely with our Content and Marketing teams, and you'll be central to bringing the best curation experience to our members in the Netherlands, and additional European territories (France, Benelux more widely).
Where you’ll have impact:
Contribute to the design of MUBI’s Programming vision in the Netherlands and additional European territories (France, Benelux more widely) in alignment with key metrics and growth objectives.
Build and maintain relationships with rights holders across the Netherlands and additional territories, ranging from local distributors, filmmakers and producers but also international sales agents to secure library deals and earlier window licensing opportunities.
Help shape overall curation and licensing strategies, constantly improve methodology and tool efficiency, and maintain an up-to-date market knowledge to share with the wider business
Source, negotiate, and draft license deals for library titles and platform exclusives for the Netherlands and additional territories.
Assess scouted and submitted films for suitability for France and additional territories programming.
Optimise content in accordance with MUBI curatorial values and objectives, gauging programming possibilities and activating local licensing initiatives
Collaborate with the analytics team to make data-informed decisions about curation, valuations and investment decisions, to better understand customer viewing, sharing insight into performance and subscriber engagement with the wider team
Conduct research as needed and general tracking of industry players, overall deals, trends and the competitive landscape.
Compose editorial to introduce and contextualise programming for subscribers in the Netherlands.
What you’ll bring:
You have proven experience in the film industry, and digital acquisition or sales
You have strong cinema knowledge -- domestic and international, past and present.
You have a solid understanding of the arthouse and independent film market and digital distribution landscape in the Netherlands and other European territories.
You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, contextualise programming efforts, and match MUBI's high-standard relationships with external partners
Candidates speaking Dutch at a native level will be given priority (Desired)

You have the ability to think creatively / outside the box (Desired)
