As we enter our next chapter, we are seeking an exceptional Human Resources Leader to help shape the future of our company, culture, and workforce.

This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a people strategy that directly influences business outcomes, organizational effectiveness, leadership development, and employee experience.

The Opportunity

As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will partner closely with the CEO and senior leaders to design and execute a people strategy that supports rapid growth while preserving our culture and values.

You will lead all aspects of Human Resources, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, Employee Relations, Organizational Design, and DEI initiatives. Most importantly, you will build the people infrastructure, processes, and leadership capabilities needed to scale successfully.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team on organizational strategy, workforce planning, and talent decisions.
  • Develop and execute a multi-year people strategy aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Build a scalable HR operating model to support expansion across teams and locations.

Organizational Growth

  • Design organizational structures that enable growth, accountability, and agility.
  • Establish succession planning and leadership development programs.

Culture & Employee Experience

  • Champion and evolve company culture during periods of significant growth and change.
  • Drive employee engagement, retention, and performance initiatives.
  • Foster a diverse, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.

HR Infrastructure & Operations

  • Build scalable policies, programs, systems, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Oversee compensation, benefits, performance management, and employee relations programs.

Leadership Development

  • Coach executives and managers on leadership effectiveness, team performance, and organizational health.
  • Develop programs that strengthen management capabilities throughout the organization.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including executive-level responsibilities.
  • Experience leading HR in a high-growth startup, scale-up, or rapidly evolving organization.
  • Proven success building HR infrastructure during periods of significant organizational growth.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect people strategy to business performance.
  • Experience partnering directly with founders, CEOs, and executive teams.
  • Deep expertise across talent management, organizational development, compensation, employee relations, and HR operations.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, and leadership skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience helping a company scale
  • Experience managing distributed or hybrid workforces.
  • Advanced degree and/or SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification.

COMPENSATION

Base Compensation: $115,000 - $230,000 Annually

  • Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skills and/or location

SMC offers a competitive benefits package, with a 36-hour standard work week, hybrid working arrangement, 13 paid holidays, 100% coverage of medical, health, and dental insurance premiums for our full-time employees, and reimbursement of professional licensing costs. Spouse and family insurance premiums are subsidized by SMC. All full-time employees are additionally eligible for employer-sponsored life and long-term disability insurance as well as participation in our 401(k) plan, with annual safe harbor contribution.
