Part Time Babysitter – Thurmont, MD

A family in Thurmont, MD 21788 is seeking a dependable and caring babysitter for their 4-year-old child. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with preschool-aged children and can provide safe, structured, and engaging care after camp and occasional overnight hours.

Schedule:

• Short-Term Summer Care is needed 3 evenings (including some overnights) per week on the following rotating schedule:
• Week of July 5: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (overnight 5pm-7am)
• Week of July 13: Tuesday, Wednesday (overnight 5pm-7am), Friday
• Week of July 20: Monday, Tuesday (overnight 5pm-7am), Thursday
• Week of July 26: Monday (overnight 5pm-7am), Wednesday, Thursday
• Week of August 3: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
• Week of August 10: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
• Week of August 17: Monday, Tuesday, Friday
• Week of August 24: Monday, Thursday, Friday

• Summer Coverage needed from approximately 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM until parent returns home from work
• Long-Term overnight care: Sunday evenings from 5:00 PM to Monday 7:00 AM, approximately once every 8 weeks
• For local candidates, overnight shifts may be structured as on-call coverage rather than sleeping in the home, provided the caregiver can arrive within 20–30 minutes when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Pick-up from summer camp at Emmitsburg Elementary (camp closes at 6:00 PM)
• Drive child home to Thurmont (approximately 12 minutes / 8 miles from camp)
• Serve dinner and provide supervision until parent arrives home around by 8:00 PM
• Engage child in age-appropriate play and activities
• Provide basic overnight care on Sundays (once every 8 weeks)

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
• Comfortable with occasional overnight care

Compensation:

• $20-23 per hour (commensurate with experience)
