SUMMARY
The Health Center Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the health center. The Health Center Manager works with providers, health center staff, and the operations leadership team to ensure excellent quality of care and service, efficient utilization of resources, compliance, and strong financial performance. The Health Center Manager also works with other departments across the affiliate to promote the mission of Planned Parenthood Southeast (PPSE) within the community.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Health Center Management

Operates the health center in accordance with the Planned Parenthood Medical Standards and Guidelines, PPSE policies and procedures, and all applicable state and federal regulations

Ensures efficient operations of all aspects of the health center including patient care, customer service, patient experience, and compliance

Supports and trains staff to ensure full proficiency and competency in staff’s respective roles
-
Provides direct patient service as appropriate to meet demand or in cases of the absence of a health center staff

Front office: check-in, check-out, customer service

Back office: intake, medical history, consenting, education, laboratory

Advanced services (if applicable): ultrasound, products of conception

Manages the overall facility and center equipment, including ensuring the building and equipment are clean and maintained in good working condition and repair

Promotes the growth and development of health center services and staff
-
Ensures quality, experience, productivity, volume, revenue, and expense goals are forecasted, tracked, and achieved; develops and implements action plans if goals are off track

Creates annual plans to ensure the health center stays on track for achieving goals; develops action plans if outcomes are off track

Assists with marketing the health center and patient outreach and implementation of new services

Facilitates daily huddles, regular staff meetings, and other meetings as appropriate with staff and clinicians

Manages and enforces PPSE organizational and HR policies fairly and consistently
-
Serves as an advocate for staff and patients in all settings
-
Be forthcoming and truthful in responding to the Alabama Department of Public Health, Georgia Department of Community Health and the Mississippi State Department of Health inquiries and requests for information

Supply Chain Management

Manages all aspect of clinic supplies and inventory and ensures appropriate safeguards for medication access

Monitors supply and medication usage to maintain par levels and cost efficiency; promptly reports anomalies through the appropriate management train

Completes appropriate reports to reconcile inventory; completes additional reports as needed to ensure inventory is appropriately tracked

Reviews supplies received and submit packing slips and invoices to the designated purchasing contact

Utilizes PPSE’s purchasing platform to ensure a consistent level of supplies while appropriately managing costs; updates the platform with applicable information as needed
Financial Management

Manages the direct expenses of the health center to ensure fiscal strength of the health center

Monitors monthly revenue and expenses of the health center and creates action plans for areas of significant or ongoing variance

Works with leadership to develop, implement, and manage cost effective and equitable staffing models

Assists with annual budget preparation and provides subject matter input on growth opportunities

Uses sound judgement to escalate issues that impact the fiscal health of the health center
Quality Management
-
Responsible for the maintenance and completion of the health center annual Compliance, Risk, and Quality Management Clinical Workplan

Completes all required audits, drills, reports, and activities on the appropriate timeline
-
Develops action plans for any areas of concern that impact quality, safety, and/or service
-
Works closely with operations leadership and other health center managers to identify, develop, and implement quality improvement initiatives
-
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
-
5+ years of progressive management experience, with strong operations management skills
-
4+ years healthcare experience, preferably in sexual and reproductive healthcare and/or surgical center management
-
Experience with insurance, medical coding and a solid combination of front and back office work
-
Experience managing clinicians/providers
-
College degree preferred
-
Strong leadership and management skills
-
Excellent communication skills
-
Strong computer skills, including practice management software, MS office, and internet/email

Ability to provide / support the provision of objective information to patients about all the options available to them (abortion, adoption, or parenting) in the event of an unintended pregnancy

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed to other health centers, PPSE’s administrative offices, and conferences.
