We are now looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our R&D team in Athens. You will play a key role in the design, development, and deployment of autonomous robotic systems, contributing to products that operate in demanding real-world environments (e.g., solar farms, marine structures).
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for robotic systems
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models and technical drawings
- Contribute to mechanism design (mobility systems, frames, enclosures, end-effectors)
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation in lab and field conditions
- Perform engineering calculations (stress, fatigue, tolerances, environmental loads)
- Apply DFM/DFA principles to ensure manufacturability and scalability
- Collaborate with electronics, software, and AI teams for system integration
- Participate in field deployments and performance evaluation
- Prepare documentation (BOMs, technical reports, design reviews)
- Continuously improve designs based on testing and operational feedback
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 1–4 years of experience (or strong project experience) in mechanical design / robotics
- Good knowledge in CAD tools (SolidWorks)
- Solid understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with prototyping and hands-on engineering work
- Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment
- Good communication skills in English
Nice to have:
- Experience in robotics, mechatronics, or autonomous systems
- Exposure to FEA / simulations
- Familiarity with harsh-environment design (marine, outdoor, thermal constraints)
- Hands-on experience with 3D printing, machining, or assembly
- Basic understanding of control systems or embedded hardware
