JOB SUMMARY
The Field Civil Engineer is responsible for supervising, overseeing, and coordinating civil construction activities on site to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, project schedules and company procedures. The role involves monitoring site progress, resolving technical issues, coordinating contractors and subcontractors, conducting inspections, preparing progress reports, and ensuring compliance with HSE and QA/QC standards. The Field Civil Engineer will also provide technical support during construction and assist in achieving project objectives within budget and schedule, while mentoring and coaching team members on best practices and lessons learned.orkforce coordination, and stakeholder communication.The role involves supervising contractors, subcontractors, field personnel, and construction teams while ensuring compliance with HSE and QA/QC requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally the Field civil Engineer serves as the key field representative for project execution and plays a critical role in construction planning, progress monitoring and site cost control.
Job Objectives
- Supervise and coordinate all onsite construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, and timely project execution.
- Ensure that engineering designs, construction methods, and completed works meet required technical, quality, and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle. Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate site activities between contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and project teams.
- Conduct Daily site inspections and verify quality of works executed.
- Review engineering drawings, BOQs, and technical documents before implementation and Resolve technical and construction-related issues on site.
- Supervise and monitor onsite construction activities and ensure work is executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Monitor construction progress, report on project status and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Must be able to use surveying instrument when required and must ensure proper setting out, measurements, and alignment of works.
- Monitor material usage and ensure compliance with approved materials and specifications including preparation of material wastage reports.
- Support planning and scheduling of site activities to achieve project milestones and produce short term program (2 to 4 weeks lookahead).
- Ensure proper documentation of site activities, daily diaries fit for use, site instructions, inspections, and approvals.
- Attend site meetings and provide engineering support and recommendations.
- Coordinate testing and commissioning activities where required.
- Support project close-out and snag/punch list activities.
- Promote safe working practices among contractors and workers.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety inspections, and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures on site.
- Ensure works are executed under approved permit-to-work systems where applicable.
- Ensure all construction works meet required quality standards.
- Coordinate inspections and approvals with QA/QC teams, Alaro DCC and consultants.
- Identify and raise NCR and monitor corrective actions for non-conformance issues.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline, Construction Management, Building Technology, or candidate with demonstrated vast wealth of hands on experience on similar roles from Tier1 construction companies.
Experience
- Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in construction supervision and project execution.
- At least 5 years in a supervisory role within large-scale construction, infrastructure, industrial, oil & gas(Construction), or real estate projects.
- Experience managing contractors and subcontractors on multidiscipline construction projects.
- Experience in high-rise buildings, Building construction, infrastructure, industrial and commercial facilities, or heavy civil construction is an added advantage.
Key Competency Requirements
- Strong understanding of civil engineering and construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
