ETF Trader - Asian Markets
Posted about 1 month ago
Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) is a global quantitative and systematic investment manager operating across asset classes and geographies. We combine data, research, technology, and trading expertise to deliver scalable, research-driven investment strategies.
We are building a new ETF market-making desk in Sydney and are looking for an early hire to help shape its direction. This role sits at the intersection of trading, research, and technology — you will be actively involved in all three, rather than specialising in a single function.
On any given day, you may be operating live trading systems and managing risk, developing new pricing models, or improving the infrastructure the desk runs on. As the platform grows, you will play a key role in expanding into new markets and products across Asia-Pacific.
Responsibilities
- Trade and market make ETFs across Asian exchanges, delivering efficient execution and competitive pricing
- Operate and monitor systematic trading strategies across a range of horizons, from HFT to longer-term positioning
- Manage FX exposure and correlated risks across ETF and underlying portfolios
- Improve and refine existing market-making and execution strategies
- Research and develop alpha signals using market microstructure, flows, and cross-asset data
- Contribute to the design and enhancement of ETF pricing models across asset classes
- Build and improve trading infrastructure in collaboration with quantitative researchers and engineers
- Identify and capitalise on relative value and arbitrage opportunities
- Monitor ETF market structure, listings, and regulatory developments across the region
Your Profile
- 1–5 years of experience in trading, market making, or a related quantitative role
- Strong understanding of probability, expected value, and risk/reward trade-offs
- Experience with ETF, Delta One, or systematic trading strategies is advantageous
- Comfortable working with electronic trading systems and data-driven decision making
- Interest in both research and implementation — from idea generation to production
- Detail-oriented with a high level of ownership and accountability
- Clear and effective communicator, able to collaborate across trading, research, and technology
- Motivated to build in an early-stage environment where processes and systems are still evolving
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics, or Finance
