Primary Role

The Finance Systems Accountant is responsible for the day to day operation, integrity, and optimisation of financial systems, data, and associated tools at CDC. The role focuses on ensuring accounting systems are configured correctly, data is accurate and reliable, and reporting outputs meet finance and business needs.

The position works closely with Finance, IT, and operational stakeholders to support system functionality, process improvement, and reporting capability, and plays a key role in maintaining strong financial controls within systems.

Systems Finance Manager, or as otherwise directed

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain and support accounting systems and related applications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Perform configuration, testing, and validation of system changes, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Ensure the integrity, quality, and consistency of financial data across systems and reports.
  • Support month‑end and year‑end processes by ensuring system outputs reconcile to the general ledger and statutory requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve standard and ad‑hoc financial reports using available tools (e.g. ERP, Excel, Power BI).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within financial systems and reporting.
  • Assist with documenting system processes, data flows, controls, and user guidance.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting assistance to system users, escalating issues as required.
  • Assist in maintaining internal controls embedded within financial systems.
  • Support audits, system reviews, and control testing by providing data, reports, and explanations.
  • Contribute to finance and business initiatives involving system or data changes.
  • Other duties as directed from time to time.

 

Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in financial accounting or systems-focused accounting roles.
  • Experience working with accounting systems and financial data in a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, chart of accounts, and financial reporting processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with reporting or BI tools (e.g. Power BI).
  • Experience supporting ERP systems, system upgrades, or process improvements.
  • Ability to analyse data issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain system and data issues clearly.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting accreditation (CPA, CA) desirable.
