The Role
The Engineer II, Platform Integration. This role requires exceptional software engineering skills, full development lifecycle knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in unstructured environments.
Successful candidates have a demonstrated technical track record in designing and implementing robust Software Test Infrastructure for complex hardware-based systems, bringing an exceptional system-level perspective and proficiency in software.
This role is mission-critical for helping deliver and scale a safety-critical system for industrial automation. The opportunity offers a technical, hands-on team member the chance to help develop a market-defining enterprise product that combines autonomous vehicle technology with a software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model.
The ideal candidate will embrace our goal to drive zero-emission, self-driving vehicle adoption, and help us realize our potential to define, build, and lead a new category of robotic automation for the enterprise.
This role is hybrid based at the HQ in Henderson, CO.
Duties & Key Objectives
- Design and develop hardware systems for autonomous systems in compliance with ISO 26262 or other relevant safety standards.
- Conduct thorough and systematic Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for hardware components and systems to identify and mitigate potential failure modes and hazards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, system engineers, and quality assurance to ensure the overall safety and reliability of the product.
- Define and document hardware safety requirements, including functional safety goals, safety mechanisms, and fault tolerance measures.
- Perform hardware architecture design and analysis, including component selection, signal integrity, and power integrity analysis.
- Develop and review hardware specifications, schematics, and layout designs.
- Conduct testing and verification of hardware designs, including fault injection and fault simulation, to validate the effectiveness of safety mechanisms and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in hardware design processes and methodologies to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Domestic travel as needed to perform field work, training, or customer support (up to 20%).
- Demonstrated bias for action, strong leadership and a continuous improvement mindset
- Contribute to Outrider's growth and a culture of responsible zero-emission autonomous vehicle deployment
- Outrider may require additional or different tasks as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or Physics, plus 24 months’ experience in robotics engineering integrating software/hardware systems for robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other automotive/aerospace products.
- Ability to use/interact with Linux and commandline interface.
- Strong troubleshooting background and comfort with analytical tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, etc). Knowledgeable in communication protocols (e.g. TCP, UDP, CAN, I2C, SPI); or Master’s of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or Physics.

Comp & Benefits
- Annual Salary range of $122,000 - $135,000
- Actual compensation is based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, and specific work location due to differences in the cost of labor. In addition to a base salary, this role is also eligible for benefits, and equity bonus.
