The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. Provides preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene services, including prophylaxis, fluoride application, periodontal care, radiographs, and oral health education. Assesses patient dental needs, develops care plans, and provides patient education. Assists dentists during procedures and supports overall clinic operations in serving adults and children experiencing homelessness. 
 
 
NOTE: In order to ensure that our consumers receive the best possible care the candidate chosen to fill this position will be required to complete our internal credentialing and privileging process prior to a start date.  The credentialing and privileging timeline is dependent on the selected candidate's submission of documents necessary for clearance.  Please note that a start date will be scheduled once credentialing and privileging is complete.

  • Valid driver’s license required. This requirement may be waived, if necessary, based on overall candidate experience and current needs of the business.

    ### Essential Job Functions 
  • Assess dental condition and needs of patients through screenings, health history reviews, dental charting, perio charting, and vital sign collection. 
  • Deliver direct patient care including prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, polishing, fluoride application, x-rays, and oral hygiene instructions. 
  • Develop and implement individualized dental care plans and provide patient/family education under dentist supervision. 
  • Assist the dentist chairside during specialized tests, procedures, and treatments. 
  • Document dental history, chief complaints, procedures, and patient observations in the EHR; ensure follow-up on results. 
  • Provide emergency assistance and initiate care in response to adverse developments during treatment. 
  • Triage walk-in patients and initiate appropriate patient care. 
  • Support public oral health education initiatives tailored to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. 
  • Maintain accurate and complete EHR documentation including clinical services, telephone communications, tasks, authorizations, and insurance records. 
  • Ensure compliance with insurance documentation (e.g., CCARs, DACODs) and clinical authorization processes. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EHR systems and implement upgrades as directed. 
  • Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment that values diversity and collaboration. 
  • Meet required vaccination(s), as defined by applicable law, regulation, or CMS guidance. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management. 
  • ### Qualifications Summary 
  • Current licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the State of Colorado required.
  • Minimum 2 years of college education required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • One year of experience as a dental hygienist preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
