In this role, the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality mental health care to patients across a wide range of psychiatric disorders. Primary responsibilities include performing thorough assessments, diagnosing conditions, and designing effective treatment plans that may include therapy and medication management. You will work within a collaborative team environment, focusing on patient-centered care and advocating for mental health and wellness. Requirements
- Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and evaluations of patients.
- Diagnose psychiatric conditions and formulate individualized treatment plans.
- Offer medication management and supportive therapy, considering the diverse needs of patients.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care.
- Educate patients and families about mental health issues and treatment options.
- Document patient care and maintain accurate records in line with agency policies.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay informed of the best practices.
- Contribute to case discussions and collaborate on treatment goals for improved patient outcomes.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Master's Degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health.
EXPERIENCES AND/OR SKILLS REQUIRED:
- At least two (2) years of experience in psychiatric nursing or a related field.
- Proficient in assessing and treating a variety of psychiatric disorders.
- Able to build meaningful therapeutic relationships with patients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in electronic health records and basic computer applications.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Board-certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
- Current certification in CPR/ BLS.
