DAPR Engineering, LLC, a part of Re:Build Manufacturing, is an engineering design and analysis consulting firm in Merrimack, New Hampshire. Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a highly experienced mechanical engineering professional to lead technical solution development for complex industrial product development and custom automation opportunities. This role is responsible for working directly with customers to define requirements, develop system concepts, assess technical and commercial risk, and develop accurate project estimates and proposals.
The ideal candidate has deep experience in designing industrial automation systems, custom equipment, and engineering services, and is capable of independently translating ambiguous customer needs into practical, technically sound solutions. They have experience concepting, developing detailed estimates, and carrying projects from initial inquiry to completion. This individual will serve as the technical lead during early-stage customer engagements and collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, electrical and controls engineering, project management, and business development teams.
What You’ll Get to Do
- Technical Discovery & Customer Engagement
- Serve as the technical liaison for clients in the industrial and automation sectors.
- Conduct initial intake calls and site visits with prospective clients to understand project objectives, technical requirements, constraints, and success criteria.
- Develop strong relationships with new and existing clients.
- Quoting, Proposals & Concept Development
- Translate customer requirements into technical scopes, assumptions, and functional outlines.
- Lead the development of ROM (rough-order-magnitude) and detailed cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments.
- Lead the development of preliminary automation system concepts, architectures, layouts, and technical approaches for customer opportunities.
- Develop accurate labor and part cost estimates for industrial solutions and engineering services.
- Use CAD or visualization tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Blender, simulation software) to create proposal-ready concept models or layout sketches.
- Market & Technical Expertise
- Bring at least 10 years of experience in hands on development of solutions in industrial equipment, automation, or related engineering services.
- Bring at least 5 years of experience developing and presenting robust project estimates to prospective customers.
- Know the latest automation technologies, manufacturing processes, and industry trends.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, project management, and leadership to align customer expectations with delivered solutions.
- Provide feedback on market needs, customer struggles, and service improvements.
What You Bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in industrial equipment, automation integration, or engineering consulting services.
- Proven experience preparing technical quotations and proposals.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and system requirements.
- Ability to balance mechanical, controls, manufacturing, and operational considerations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a consultative approach.
- Comfort presenting to and influencing customer decision-makers.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed. Regional up to 40%, non-regional 10-15%
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SolidWorks, Blender, or simulation software (e.g., discrete event simulation, robot/automation simulation tools) for concept development or proposal graphics.
- Familiarity with PLCs, robotics, motion control, or industrial controls.
- Background in a systems integrator, OEM, automation services provider, or engineering consulting firm.
- CRM experience and proficiency with standard sales tools.
- Ability to manage multiple front-end engineering and estimating efforts simultaneously.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license a plus.
The base salary range for this position is $127,411.57 -$191,117.36 per year. This range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the base compensation for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for annual incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives, subject to Company plans. The Company offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and other benefits.
