About the Role
This is a hands-on, generalist role sitting across Communications and Marketing. You'll support earned media campaigns, produce marketing content and cut video – sometimes all in the same day. We're looking for someone who can move between a press release draft, a social media carousel and an interview edit without losing the thread.
You'll work directly with the Director of Communications in Sydney and alongside a small team spanning communications and design. The work covers three distinct brands and shifts fast - you might spend the morning pulling data points for an Escrow.com industry report, the afternoon editing a case study interview into social clips, and the end of the day drafting copy for a Loadshift campaign.
This is a junior role, but it's not a passive one. You'll be expected to take ownership of tasks, flag problems early and produce work that's ready for review – not work that needs to be redone. A background in journalism, communications or marketing content production is preferred. Comfort with video editing tools is essential.
What You'll Do
Earned Media Support
- Draft press releases, pitch emails and media materials under the direction of the Director of Communications
- Maintain and update journalist contact lists across technology, business, finance, logistics and labour market beats
- Send and track pitch outreach; manage follow-up sequences; log coverage
- Scan RSS feeds, news aggregators and platform data daily for newsjacking opportunities across all three brands
- Respond to journalist callouts and HARO-style requests relevant to our platforms
Marketing Content & Campaigns
- Write marketing copy across formats: blog posts, landing page copy, email campaigns, one-pagers and sales collateral for Freelancer, Escrow.com and Loadshift
- Produce content and assets for product marketing campaigns – from concept development through to launch materials, landing pages and promotional collateral
- Help build out campaign ecosystems: if we're launching a major initiative, you're contributing to the video, the web assets, the social rollout and the supporting content – not just one piece of it
- Develop content that supports platform positioning, feature launches and strategic narratives
- Adapt tone and voice across three distinct brands: Freelancer (direct, no-BS, motivational), Escrow.com (premium, confident, trust-focused) and Loadshift (grounded, Australian, industry-respectful)
Video & Visual Content
- Edit interview footage, screen recordings and raw clips into polished short-form videos for social media and marketing use
- Produce campaign and product marketing videos – taking a brief from concept through to scripting, rough cut and final delivery
- Cut long-form content into social-native formats – reels, shorts, bite-sized clips – optimised for each platform
- Support the production of case study videos, campaign assets and explainer content
- Work with the Motion Designer on integrated content that combines video, graphics and animation
- Basic shooting ability a plus – ability to frame and record a clean talking-head interview or product walkthrough when needed
Social Media
- Draft social media copy across the four content pillars (Celebrate, Educate, Commentate, Captivate) for all three brands
- Monitor trends across platforms; identify formats, moments and cultural conversations with potential for high organic reach
- Develop and schedule social content calendars in coordination with the Director of Communications
Case Studies & Research
- Identify strong story candidates by mining internal data: transaction records, reviews, carrier profiles and high-value platform activity
- Conduct interviews with clients, freelancers and platform users; develop stories into case studies for earned media, social and marketing use
- Compile media monitoring reports and maintain earned media tracking logs
- Scan internal analytics weekly for content and story opportunities
What We're Looking For
- 1 - 3 years in a communications, marketing, journalism or content production role - with some exposure to product marketing or campaign development, not just editorial or social
- Proficiency with video editing software - Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut or DaVinci Resolve
- Strong written English - clean, direct prose that works across a pitch email, a blog post, a social caption and a video script
- Ability to context-switch between brands and content types without losing quality
- Good editorial instincts: you can look at a dataset or a user story and identify the angle worth pursuing
- Organised and self-directed - able to manage multiple briefs and deadlines without daily supervision
- Comfortable conducting interviews on camera or over video call
Nice to Have
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite beyond Premiere (Photoshop, After Effects)
- Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools
- Experience with media databases or PR tools (Muck Rack, Prezly or similar)
- Understanding of freelancing, fintech, logistics or marketplace business models
- Basic graphic design ability – can produce a clean social tile or simple infographic when the designer is at capacity
- Photography or videography experience
