Part-Time Afternoon BCBA — Pediatric ABA — Vernon Hills, IL

North Shore Pediatric Therapy

Posted about 3 hours ago

Compensation: $55–$60 per billable hour · Job Type: Part-time, hourly · Work Setting: In-person, clinic · Location: Vernon Hills, IL · Schedule: Afternoon-focused schedule, 3–5 days a week (we build it with you)

Your mornings already have a shape. The workout, the writing, the second job, the school drop-off, the kid you’re homeschooling, the side practice you’re building. You don’t need a 40-hour BCBA role to do excellent clinical work. You need a role that fits next to your morning, not over it.
At North Shore Pediatric Therapy, we built part-time afternoon BCBA roles for clinicians whose mornings already belong to something else, and whose afternoons can be both meaningful clinical work and a real schedule.

Why this role exists:

  • Many of our families need afternoon and after-school sessions. The need is real. The role is real. It’s not a placeholder.
  • We build your weekly rhythm with you: 5 short afternoons, 4 longer ones, 3 extended afternoons, whatever fits. Then on top of that: morning yoga that runs long, a midday school event, an unexpected dentist appointment — we work around what fits your life, not the other way around.
  • Same caseload structure as our full-time team, scaled to your hours. 6–8 kids on a full caseload; your slice is shaped around the afternoon families and times you can serve.
  • Supervision is 16–20%, built into your hours.
  • True interdisciplinary care. BCBAs, SLPs, OTs, PTs, and mental health providers on the same team. The afternoon BCBAs aren’t a satellite squad. You’re in the room.
  • One of the few clinical organizations that refuses blanket hour recommendations. We built the Gracent Care Calculator, a peer-reviewed tool, developed in-house, given free to the field. Our VP of Clinical Quality and Training, Liza Bodner, leads this work. You don’t have to advocate for good practice here. You just practice.
  • Part-time today doesn’t lock you out of a Lead BCBA or Clinical Director path later. If your situation changes, the conversation is open.

Who will love this afternoon role:

  • Someone whose mornings belong to the kids: school drop-off at 8, in session by 1.
  • A second-act clinician: morning consulting, afternoon clinical practice.
  • A grad student whose classes run mornings only.
  • A clinician who’s quietly always done their best work after lunch.

What you’ll actually be doing:

  • Carry an afternoon caseload, conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans grounded in assent-based, neuroaffirming care, support parent training, and supervise your RBTs.
  • Collaborate with SLPs, OTs, PTs, and mental health providers on shared kids, afternoon coordination, full team membership.
  • Run your own intakes for the families you serve.
  • Hold documentation and treatment-plan standards at the same bar as the full-time team.

What you bring:

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), licensed in the state of Illinois, and in good standing.
  • Availability to consistently cover afternoon sessions. Could be 5 afternoons a week of half-days, 4 days with longer afternoon blocks, or another rhythm. We build the schedule together in onboarding and adjust as your life does.
  • Strong communicator who is proactive and detail-oriented.
  • Passion for serving children and families, especially those with autism and developmental needs.

What it pays:

  • $55–$60 per billable hour, based on experience.
  • Free in-house CEUs as a BACB ACE Provider.
  • $500 annual Professional Development stipend, pro-rated by schedule.
  • Other benefits (medical, retirement, etc.) depend on weekly hour threshold. We’ll walk you through specifics in the interview.

Pressure test us.

We know clinical autonomy, schedule honesty, and real mentorship are what you’ll actually decide on. If anything in this post sounds too good, or doesn’t match what you’re hearing elsewhere, ask us in the interview.
