Royalty Staffing is currently hiring Vehicle Operators for our client who is a rapidly growing company. As a Vehicle Operations Specialist (VOS) for on-road testing, you are the link between cutting-edge AI and the unpredictability of the open road.
This isn't simply a "driving job"—it's a technical role that requires the focus of a pilot and the analytical mind of a tester. You will operate vehicles with proprietary technology, providing real-time feedback to engineering teams to ensure the fleet is safe, efficient, and smarter every day.
Core Responsibilities
Your day-to-day involves more than just sitting behind the wheel. You are an agile sensor tester and a safety expert.
● Systems Supervision: Monitor vehicle software systems while upholding safe operational protocols and full legal compliance.
● Structured Testing: Execute specific test cases (e.g. navigating construction zones, roundabouts, heavy pedestrian traffic, etc.) and document system performance accordingly.
● Data Logging & Reporting: Provide concise, high-quality verbal and written feedback on non-ideal vehicle behaviors and edge-case scenarios.
● Fleet Health: Perform pre-and-post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring sensors (LiDAR, Cameras, Radar) are clean and report major, operational concerns accordingly.
● Collaboration: Work directly with Software and Hardware Engineers to troubleshoot issues identified during your shift(s).
Shifts:
Candidates will start on a 9am-5pm shift, but will later move to one of the following once the team is more established.
AM: 6:00am – 2:00pm
PM: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Requirements
What You Bring to the Table Requirement
Driving Record:
A pristine driving history (no major infractions in the last 5+ years).
Cannot have more than 1 violation point count.
Tech Literacy:
Ability to navigate complex software interfaces and troubleshoot basic hardware/connectivity issues.
Focus:
High "situational awareness"—the ability to remain hyper-focused for long durations in a repetitive environment.
Communication:
Strong written English skills for technical reporting and clear verbal skills for real-time communications.
Adaptability:
Comfort with a rapidly changing environment; you might be testing a new software build every single day.
Minimum Qualifications:
● High School Diploma or GED.
● Valid U.S. Driver’s License for at least 5 years.
● Ability to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends).
● Must pass a rigorous background check and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience in fleet operations and/or precision driving.
● Experience in the AV industry or testing complex hardware/software systems.
● Knowledge of vehicle dynamics or basic automotive mechanics.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to sit in a vehicle for up to 6-8 hours per day.
● Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (e.g., moving sensor calibration equipment).
● Clear vision and hearing (with or without corrective wear/aids) to monitor environmentalcues.
