Newsweek is the global media organization that has earned audience time and trust for more than 90 years. Newsweek reaches 100 million people each month with thought-provoking news, opinion, images, graphics, and video delivered across a dozen print and digital platforms. Headquartered in New York City, Newsweek also publishes international editions in EMEA and Asia.
Newsweek is seeking a Video News Producer to deliver high-quality, timely, and platform-optimized video and visual storytelling that strengthens our journalism and drives audience engagement. This role is central to how we present news - treating visuals as a core editorial component, not a supplement.
The Video News Producer will work at the heart of a fast-paced newsroom, identifying and producing compelling video, graphics, and visual assets that enhance stories across our CMS, social platforms, and YouTube.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Storytelling (Core Responsibility)

Breaking News & Video Monitoring

- Quickly source, produce, and publish relevant video content for breaking and trending stories
- Ensure all assets are correctly ingested, labeled, and positioned effectively in the CMS and across platforms
Platform Optimisation
- Tailor video content for each platform (CMS, social channels, YouTube), ensuring optimal format, pacing, and length
- Select the most effective storytelling format for each story (e.g. reporter-led, voiceover, caption-led, sound-on-tape, VO-only)
- Contribute to newsroom goals around audience engagement, including improving reader/viewer dwell time
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with Newsweek’s newsdesk, social, and editorial teams to align on priorities and identify opportunities for video-led storytelling
- Collaborate constructively with reporters and editors throughout the production process
- Communicate clearly across shifts to maintain continuity, especially during breaking news
Workflow & Asset Management
- Maintain well-organised assets and clear production workflows
- Provide detailed handover notes to ensure seamless continuity between producers and shifts
Tools, AI & Innovation
- Use AI and production tools appropriately to improve speed, efficiency, and output quality
- Stay informed about emerging tools and workflows and contribute to continuous improvement of visual storytelling
