Oracle Fast Formula Developer - Consultant

A Fast Formula error does not produce a support ticket — it produces a wrong payroll run affecting hundreds of employees, an incorrect accrual balance, or a benefits eligibility failure. POSITION SUMMARY

RAC is hiring a Fast Formula Developer to write, test, and maintain Oracle HCM Fast Formulas across Payroll, Absence Management, Benefits, and Time & Labor modules. You will implement business rules that cannot be met through standard Oracle configuration, translating HR and Payroll policy into validated, precisely documented Fast Formula code.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Assess each business rule requirement and select the correct Fast Formula type before writing — aligning formula types to the right functional context across Payroll, Absence Management, Benefits, Compensation, Time and Labor, HCM Extracts, and Core HR validation use cases
• Write and own Oracle Payroll Fast Formulas — earnings calculations, element skip rules, mid-period proration, and retrospective processing formulas, from first draft through payroll run validation
• Write Absence Management Fast Formulas — accrual calculations, carryover rules, entitlement logic, duration calculations, and plan eligibility formulas across all absence plan types in scope
• Write Benefits Fast Formulas — plan eligibility rules, coverage amount calculations, rate formulas, post-election edits, and service calculation formulas
• Write Compensation Fast Formulas — worksheet eligibility, person selection, matrix lookup, and total compensation statement item formulas
• Write Time and Labor Fast Formulas — time entry validation rules, time calculation rules, and data transformation formulas for third-party time system integrations
• Write HCM Extracts Fast Formulas — data element transformation and row selection formulas that control extract output for outbound integrations and statutory reporting
• Debug formula compilation and runtime failures — diagnosing null database item errors, context mismatches, and conditional logic failures, and resolving them across all formula types in scope
• Document every delivered formula to handover standard — business rule, variable declarations, database items referenced, version history, and known edge cases

Requirements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 2–3 years of Oracle HCM Fast Formula development on live implementation or AMS projects — has written and deployed formulas in production, not just training environments
• Demonstrated ability to write, compile, and debug Oracle Payroll and Absence formulas independently
• Understanding of Fast Formula type selection, database item scope, and the DEFAULT block requirement
• Systematic testing approach — tests zero-value edge cases, mid-period joins, multiple concurrent assignments, and retro scenarios before declaring a formula production-ready
• Ability to translate a business rule description into a correct formula implementation without requiring a technical intermediary

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Oracle Payroll Cloud Implementation Professional — the primary target certification for a Fast Formula Developer; the exam specifically covers payroll element architecture, balance definitions, and formula processing which are the exact domains this role works in daily
• Oracle Absence Management Cloud Implementation Professional — absence formulas are the second most common formula type after payroll; this certification demonstrates the absence module depth the role requires
• Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications HCM Process Essentials certified — the foundational HCM credential; the expected entry-level certification at Consultant level
• Singapore CPF, Malaysia EPF, or Australia Superannuation payroll formula implementation experience — APAC legislative formula expertise is the highest-demand specialism in our market
