Robotics SiL Simulation Engineer (m/f/d)
ARX Robotics GmbH
Posted about 5 hours ago
About the role
At ARX Robotics you will help validate and accelerate the development of next-generation autonomous ground vehicles through high-fidelity simulation environments. As a Robotics SIL Simulation Engineer, you will build the Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) infrastructure that enables robotic systems to be tested, validated, and improved before deployment into real-world environments.
You will work closely with robotics software, systems, hardware, and autonomy teams to create simulation environments that accurately reflect operational behavior in the field. Your work will directly influence system reliability, validation speed, and the safe deployment of autonomous and teleoperated robotic platforms.
What You’ll Build
- Design, develop, and maintain Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) simulation environments for autonomous and semi-autonomous robotic platforms
- Build and integrate virtual sensor and actuator models including LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, GNSS, and other robotic subsystems
- Develop realistic simulation scenarios for localization, navigation, control, and autonomous mission behaviors
- Create automated simulation-based validation pipelines integrated into CI/CD workflows for continuous testing and verification
- Collaborate with robotics software, hardware, and systems teams to improve simulation fidelity and system integration
- Analyze simulation-to-reality gaps and continuously improve simulation accuracy based on field data and operational feedback
- Translate field test observations into reproducible simulation scenarios for debugging and validation purposes
- Support scalable validation workflows that improve development speed and deployment confidence
- Contribute to clean, maintainable, and well-documented simulation and testing infrastructure
- Mentor team members and contribute to engineering best practices across simulation, testing, and validation workflows
What You Bring
- Strong C++ development skills and hands-on experience with ROS2-based robotics systems
- Experience working with robotics simulation platforms such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Webots, or similar environments
- Solid understanding of robotic systems including sensors, actuators, embedded platforms, and real-time constraints
- Experience developing automated testing frameworks and simulation-based validation workflows
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating simulation tests into automated build and deployment systems
- Understanding of communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, TCP/UDP, and serial interfaces, including their behavior in simulated environments
- Strong Linux fundamentals and experience working with Docker-based engineering workflows
- Strong debugging and analytical skills, particularly when investigating differences between simulation and real-world system behavior
- Academic background in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field
- Professional fluency in English
Please note: You do not need to meet every single requirement to apply. We welcome motivated candidates who are eager to grow into the role and develop their expertise further.
