Senior Engineer, Backend (m/f/d)

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer on our Internal Platform team, you will architect the backbone of our engineering efficiency. You’ll build the critical backend services, APIs, and automations that empower our Cloud, IT, and product teams to move faster and innovate securely.

Your mission is to solve platform-level challenges with pragmatic code, transforming manual processes into seamless, self-service workflows. Working in close partnership with our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, you will ensure every solution you create is robust, observable, and built for scale from day one.

What You’ll Build

• Essential internal tools, APIs, and backend services that streamline our core Cloud & IT workflows.
• Automated systems for access management, resource provisioning, service requests, and operational reporting.
• Robust integrations connecting our identity provider, secrets management, CI/CD pipelines, and other key infrastructure.
• Self-service capabilities that make it easy for teams to consume central platform services like monitoring, PKI, and hosting automation.
• Clear interfaces and documentation that enable product teams to integrate with central services while maintaining clear ownership.
• Maintainable, well-tested backend code complete with documentation, logging, and operational runbooks.
• A strong, collaborative partnership with the SRE team to ensure all internal applications are observable, supportable, and resilient.
• Pragmatic automations that eliminate recurring manual work and reduce operational friction.

What You Bring

• Strong backend engineering experience with a portfolio of production services, APIs, and automations.
• Proficiency in modern backend languages such as Python, Go, or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Solid experience with REST APIs, service integrations, databases, and authentication/authorization patterns.
• Comfort working with infrastructure-adjacent systems like CI/CD, IAM, cloud APIs, and monitoring tools.
• A good understanding of operational best practices, including logging, monitoring, deployment, and testing.
• The ability to clarify technical requirements and navigate complex dependencies in a collaborative environment.
• Clear and concise written communication skills, especially for technical documentation and API specifications.
• Experience with internal developer platforms, workflow engines, or IT automation is a strong plus.
