About Swap

Swap is the infrastructure behind modern agentic commerce. The only AI-native platform connecting backend operations with a forward-thinking storefront experience.

Built for brands that want to sell anything - anywhere, Swap centralises global operations, powers intelligent workflows, and unlocks margin-protecting decisions with real-time data and capability. Our products span cross-border, tax, returns, demand planning, and our next-generation agentic storefront, giving merchants full transparency and the ability to act with confidence.

At Swap, we’re building a culture that values clarity, creativity, and shared ownership as we redefine how global commerce works.

The Role

This is a senior individual contributor role at the heart of Swap's US commercial motion, with a primary focus on the Agentic Storefront, our most strategically important product and the one driving our largest deal sizes.

The Agentic Storefront is a genuinely new kind of product, and that's what makes this role interesting. You'll be helping e-commerce leaders understand what an AI-powered commerce experience means for their business, while giving their technical teams the confidence to move forward. You'll be the person who makes that conversation credible on both sides and who gets to do it at an early, exciting moment in the product's journey.

Alongside the Agentic Storefront, you'll support deals across our cross-border commerce suite solutions that help merchants manage international selling at scale, from returns and exchanges to the third-party integrations that make it work operationally. These are complex, integration-heavy deals sold into merchants with real technical and logistical depth, and your ability to lead discovery and guide implementation scoping will directly affect outcomes. You're not expected to be a specialist, you'll have support but you'll need to get across the product landscape quickly and bring genuine curiosity to it.

You'll be the primary SE presence on the ground in the US, working closely with AEs across Austin and New York, and backed by an experienced SE and technical team in the UK. Swap's US sales team is growing aggressively, and the SE function will grow with it, this is a foundational hire, not a terminal one. We're looking for someone who's energised by that, not daunted by it.

What You'll Do

  • Own the technical win on Agentic Storefront deals - leading discovery, shaping the solution narrative, and building genuine technical credibility with both e-commerce and engineering stakeholders at prospect accounts

  • Lead integration scoping conversations - working with merchant technical teams on API connectivity, platform dependencies, implementation planning, and third-party integration requirements

  • Be a reliable, trusted technical partner to US-based AEs across the full product suite

  • Run structured technical discovery that gets to the real constraints and objectives before any solution is proposed

  • Scope and support proof of concept and pilot engagements where needed

  • Contribute to internal enablement - helping document and evolve technical positioning as Swap's product portfolio grows

  • Feed what you're hearing in the field back to product, marketing, and GTM teams - your perspective from customer conversations is genuinely valued here

What We're Looking For

Must have:

  • 5-7 years in a pre-sales, solutions engineering, or sales engineering role at a B2B SaaS company

  • Genuine hands-on technical depth, comfortable working with REST APIs, webhooks, and integration architecture; able to engage meaningfully with merchant engineering teams on implementation questions. Prior experience with JavaScript, Python, or similar is a strong signal

  • Familiarity with the e-commerce ecosystem - you understand how online retailers think, who the stakeholders are, and what drives their decisions. Experience in e-commerce SaaS (platforms, CX, marketing tech, or adjacent) is valued

  • AI fluency in practice - you already use AI tools to accelerate your own work, you're genuinely curious about agentic products, and you can engage credibly in technical conversations about AI-powered systems

  • High autonomy - you're comfortable operating without a playbook, navigating ambiguity, and figuring out what needs to happen next

  • Strong discovery instincts - you ask the right questions before reaching for a solution, and you listen carefully to the answers

  • Adaptability - you can hold context across multiple products and buyer profiles and stay effective across all of them

Nice to have:

  • Direct experience selling or supporting AI or agentic products

  • Background in a high-growth or scale-up environment where the scope was broader than the job title suggested

  • Exposure to post-purchase, fulfilment, or logistics technology

  • Familiarity with structured sales methodologies (MEDDPICC or similar)

What This Role Is Not

We think it's worth being honest about a few things:

  • Not a demo-led role. Demos sit primarily with the AEs at Swap. Your value is in technical depth, discovery quality, and the trust you build with prospects

  • Not a logistics specialist role. You'll learn enough to hold credible conversations, and you'll have SME support behind you but deep domain expertise in logistics isn't what we're hiring for

  • Not a large-team role yet. You'll be the SE on the ground in the US, and that requires someone who's energised by ownership rather than looking for a lot of structure around them

Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary.

  • Stock options in a high-growth startup.

  • Competitive PTO with public holidays additional.

  • Private Health.

  • Pension.

  • Wellness benefits.

  • Breakfast Mondays.
