Technician, Avionics Integration

Posted about 2 months ago

OfficeLos Angeles, CA
America is critically deficient in production of defensive munitions- we currently produce shipborne interceptors in the few hundreds per year while our adversaries are producing offensive threats in the tens of thousands per year. Furientis was started to help solve this problem- introducing a new class of cost-effective, high production rate, interceptor missiles. We're seeking motivated individuals who internalize this problem and are eager to apply their past experience in similar industries (aerospace, defense, automotive/racing, robotics) and out of the box thinking to solve this problem for the US and its allies.
### About the Team

The Avionics Team owns the electronics on the vehicle: flight computer, compute boards, power conversion, sensor interfaces, wiring, and the embedded firmware that ties them together. The same engineers design the boards, write the firmware, and bring them up at the bench. No handoff layer between hardware and software.

Avionics sits on the critical path for every flight test, so the team's velocity sets the program's pace.

### About the Role

We are looking for a wiring and integration specialist who owns vehicle electrical assembly end-to-end: harnesses, connectors, board-level rework, conformal coating, and bring-up. This role pairs tightly with the avionics engineers and is distinct from the Vehicle Technician, who owns structures, composites, machining, and propulsion build support.

This is not a production-line technician role. You will work directly alongside engineers and leadership to build flight hardware from prototype through operational systems. The ideal candidate enjoys building things from scratch, solving problems independently, and contributing wherever needed to get vehicles and systems operational.

You will help build and test flight hardware in a fast-moving development environment where wiring craftsmanship and electrical discipline matter.

### What You'll Do
  • Build, route, terminate, and troubleshoot aerospace-grade wiring harnesses.
  • Assemble and integrate avionics hardware into prototypes and flight systems.
  • Support electrical bring-up, integration testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Solder and rework at the bench: through-hole, SMT, and basic BGA rework on prototype and flight boards.
  • Terminate MIL-spec connectors (D-sub, circular, Mil-DTL-38999) by crimp and solder, and document pinouts and pop charts as you go.
  • Apply conformal coating, staking, and potting; stand up vehicle electrical integration and flight-test instrumentation.
  • Maintain high standards for documentation, cleanliness, and workmanship.
  • Own continuity, isolation, and IR-drop checks across vehicle harness builds before energizing.
  • Build the wiring-and-integration discipline of the team: travelers, traceability, and harness configuration control.
  • ### Skills We're Hiring For
  • 4+ years of hands-on aerospace, motorsports, defense, robotics, or advanced hardware experience.
  • Experience building and troubleshooting avionics systems.
  • Strong wiring and harness fabrication skills.
  • Hands-on soldering proficiency at the bench. IPC J-STD-001 familiarity preferred.
  • MIL-spec connector termination experience: D-sub, circular, Mil-DTL-38999, crimp and solder.
  • Reads electrical schematics, harness drawings, and wire-list documents fluently.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability and attention to detail.
  • Methodical, documentation-disciplined working style. Wiring is unforgiving of shortcuts.
  • ### Bonus Points For
  • FAA A&P certification.
  • Experience with MIL-spec wiring standards.
  • Experience supporting flight test operations.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 (cable and wire harness) certification.
  • Soldering certification.
  • Familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, serial buses, and aerospace sensors.
  • Experience in race vehicles, UAVs, EVTOL, launch systems, or experimental aircraft.
  • Eligibility & Logistics Location: On-site at our Los Angeles, CA HQ; remote work is not available. Monthly weekend travel for test events and supplier engagements. Clearance: A clearance is not required for this position. Must be a U.S. Person.

Equal Opportunity & Export Compliance Furientis is an equal-opportunity employer. To comply with U.S. export control laws, employment is contingent on eligibility to access export-controlled information.
