Position Summary:
The Solar Field Technician performs field-level activities required to operate and maintain a solar or BESS site and can
do so independently. This position includes repairs on inverters, trackers, Bess units, communications equipment, and
general site upkeep. Field technicians are required to have a working knowledge on operating solar equipment and
performing preventative maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Troubleshoot, maintain and repair inverters, trackers, and other systems essential to health site operation.
· Perform routine testing and repair of AC and DC electrical circuits for maximum site production.
· Ensure site safety and security.
· Have in depth knowledge of potential electrical hazards and use proper LOTO procedures to safe guard work
space before repairs or maintenance is performed.
· Log and record all maintenance activities performed into a computerized maintenance management system,
HEIS 2.0.
· Accurately report and relay information to site lead and other supervision in a clear and concise manner.
· Adhere to all site safety requirements including LOTO, PPE, and safe working practices.
· Perform site security and visual inspections of vegetation, facilities, water ways and roads.
· Monitor repairs performed by contractors and provide detailed breakdowns of work performed.
· Advanced knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and control devices installed in power facilities.
· Perform all solar and/or Bess site activities not listed above.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
· Required:
o Able to operate a computer to interact with onsite equipment and proficient in Microsoft Office suite
o Advanced level of electronic principles knowledge to perform detailed troubleshooting.
o Electrical testing equipment knowledge (multimeter, IV Curve Tracer, TTR, insulation resistance etc.)
o Proficient in repairing and maintaining tracker systems, inverters, and weather stations.
o 2-4 years of solar experience (O&M and commissioning experienced preferred.)
o Valid driver’s license and good driving record to operate company vehicles.
o A high school diploma or GED is required.
o Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) programs
· Preferred:
o Proficient in SCADA system monitoring and applications used to operate power generation facilities
o General knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70e, LOTO, and First Aid training.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
· Required:
o Ability to mostly work in an outside environment
o Lifting items greater than 35 pounds
