The Role  
This is a highly influential technical leadership role where you’ll drive the architecture, performance and evolution of our core data platform.

As our Principal Engineer, Data & Platforms, your key responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: 

  • Own the health, performance and optimisation of our enterprise data platform, with Snowflake at the core
  • Lead the design and architecture of scalable, secure and cost-efficient data solutions
  • Embed AI-native capabilities into data products using Cortex AI, LLM functions and intelligent workflows
  • Set and govern engineering standards across data architecture, performance and AI development
  • Drive adoption of modern data practices, including automation, observability and Shift Left data quality
  • Partner closely with engineering leaders and stakeholders to shape data-driven capabilities across the business
  • Lead platform security, governance and compliance, including access control, encryption and data lineage
  • Champion FinOps practices, ensuring cost transparency, optimisation and efficient platform usage

  

About you

  • Proven experience as a Principal or Lead Data Engineer in modern cloud environments
  • Deep expertise in Snowflake, including architecture, performance optimisation and security
  • Hands-on experience with AI-powered data capabilities, such as Cortex AI or similar
  • Strong experience with dbt, Terraform, AWS and Python
  • A track record of building scalable, enterprise-grade data platforms
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, governance and platform design principles
  • Exposure to financial services or regulated environments (highly regarded)
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders
