T1 Energy is bringing solar manufacturing back to the U.S. by building a domestic solar supply chain. Our mission is to invigorate America with scalable, reliable, and low-cost energy. Our fully operational 5GW solar module facility in Wilmer, Texas, can manufacture more than 20,000 modules every 24 hours. We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to lead the sourcing strategy for a
defined portfolio of spend categories within our Procurement organization. You
will own the end-to-end buying process from market analysis to ongoing
performance management, delivering tangible business impact and supply chain
resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
Develop sourcing strategies and lead supplier negotiations to achieve best
total cost of ownership outcomes.
Evaluate bids and proposals using structured scoring frameworks
patterning with cross-functional stakeholders on supplier selection.
Define and maintain category roadmaps including sourcing timelines and
contract renewal plans.
Sourcing and Negotiation
Lead competitive sourcing events across assigned categories
Develop negotiation strategies and lead supplier negotiation
Evaluate bids and proposals using structured scoring frameworks,
partnering with cross-functional stakeholders on supplier selection
Supplier Relationship Management
Manage a portfolio of strategic and preferred suppliers, conducting regular
business reviews and holding suppliers accountable to contractual
commitments
Develop and track supplier scorecards covering delivery performance,
quality, cost, responsiveness, and other key metrics,
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks include single source
dependencies and financial instability,
Stakeholder Collaboration
Translate business requirements into sourcing strategies and communicate
category plans to leadership
Partner with internal stakeholders to understand demand requirements
and embed procurement early in business decisions.
Data and Performance
Work with Procurement Data Analyst to produce regular reporting for
category spend
Report on category KPIs including category spend, vendor performance,
maverick spend, etc.
Identify opportunities for demand management, specification
rationalization and process improvement
Required Skills:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to successfully support diverse company initiatives and business
issues
Project management and influencing skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite
Ability to perform in a fast-paced, goal-oriented and time sensitive
environment
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Procurement, with at least 3 years in a senior
buying or strategic sourcing role, preferably in manufacturing or industrial
environments
Demonstrated track record of delivering cost savings through competitive
sourcing and supplier negotiations
Strong commercial acumen and experience managing supplier contracts
Proficiency in procurement tools and ERP systems (i.e. Oracle, SAP, ZIP,
Coupa, etc.)
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to build business cases and
present to senior stakeholders
Advanced Excel Skills, including pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP and
data modeling
Strong understanding of procurement operations vs. sourcing strategy
separation
