Engineering Manager
DataSnipper Careers
Posted about 9 hours ago
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Engineering Manager to join our Platform Team in the Amsterdam office. Working in a bootstrapped and profitable scale-up, you’ll have the unique opportunity to drive technical innovation at scale while shaping a team at the forefront of transforming audit and finance.
Why DataSnipper?
Audit and finance are still massively manual — and we’re changing that. DataSnipper is a $1B, bootstrapped unicorn with 600,000+ users across 180+ countries, already embedded in the daily workflows of top audit and accounting firms. Now, we’re taking things further with our Excel Agent — bringing AI directly into where the work actually happens.
Unlike generic AI tools, we don’t sit on the sidelines. Our AI operates inside Excel, with access to real documents and audit evidence — meaning it doesn’t just generate answers, it does the work, with full traceability.
We’re not just applying AI — we’re redefining how audit gets done. If you want to build something category-defining at scale, this is the place.
What You Will Do:
Lead an engineering team through outcomes, not tasks — set clear goals with the team and trust them to figure out how
Make the team measurably better — raise the engineering bar, grow engineers into bigger problems, and address performance issues directly when they arise
Drive a step-change in what the team can do with AI — not just shipping faster, but tackling harder problems, raising quality, and expanding what the team can credibly own
Lead the team in building agentic products — own the engineering choices that make agents reliable, observable, and useful in real customer workflows
Bring strong product and technical aptitude — challenge product framing as confidently as you challenge architecture
Make the architectural and technical calls that shape the team's systems, and stay close enough to the code to do so credibly
Help shape the team's scope as it evolves, including standing up new teams if needed
Partner with product, design, and senior leadership to translate strategy into a clear, well-sequenced roadmap
Set the patterns for AI-assisted engineering on the team (we use Claude Code internally) and contribute to what works across the org
What You Bring:
At least 3 years of leading and managing engineering teams, driving performance, growth, and professional development through hands-on mentorship, feedback, and goal setting.
Minimum 5 years as a software engineer with a passion for building reliable, secure, and scalable systems.
Track record of leading engineering teams that build with AI day-to-day — and made those teams measurably more capable as a result, not just faster
An empowerment style of management — you lead through outcomes and trust, not by assigning tasks
Strong product aptitude — can challenge a product framing, push back on the wrong thing, and translate customer signal into roadmap calls
A track record of growing engineers, and being honest with them when they need to grow
Strategic thinker — can shape product direction, technical direction, and team scope, not just execute on what's handed down
Background that combines several of: API platforms, third-party integrations, SLA ownership, developer tools, or platform/infrastructure engineering
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work effectively in an ever-changing scale-up environment
What We Offer:
Be part of one of the fastest-growing, profitable unicorn scale-ups in the Netherlands with a global impact
Equity (Stock Appreciation Rights) to share the company's success and growth
