Posted about 3 hours ago

At Flix, we offer a dynamic work environment with competitive pay, strong growth opportunities, and a tech-driven approach to making travel more accessible, sustainable, and affordable.

We're looking for a motivated and skilled Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our Core Data Platform team – Foundation Division. You will help us drive the company to the next level, and have the most direct influence on our success.

The team provides tools, infrastructure, expertise and best practices to empower every Flix employee through data excellence and reliable infrastructure. We put our users into the heart of our data platform, ensuring that they can easily process, discover, analyze, share and leverage data. We have a constant process of reflecting on our current work, and adapting new practices and technologies. Our daily work is built on trust and collaboration.

About the Role

  • Improve and maintain our scalable data platform infrastructure on AWS, K8s, Confluent Cloud and Snowflake, ensuring high availability and reliability for all data consumers across the organization
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to understand their needs and continuously improve the platform's usability and self-service capabilities
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, ensuring our cloud environments are reproducible, auditable, and well-documented
  • Operate and improve our data platform by optimizing workloads for performance, cost-efficiency, and resilience
  • Build and refine CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) to enable fast, safe, and automated deployments across the data platform
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies and best practices to keep our data platform modern, secure, and future-proof
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical documentation, sharing knowledge within the team and across the organization
  • Implement and maintain comprehensive observability and monitoring (Datadog), creating actionable alerts and dashboards to proactively detect and resolve issues
  • Participate in the team’s on-call duty schedule

About You

  • Strong data architecture experience, with a proven track record of solving complex data challenges in large or multi-team organizations
  • The right cultural fit: a genuine desire to help colleagues, a focus on delivering the right solution over the fast one, and comfort with frequent context switching
  • Strong Kafka knowledge from architecture and a developer's perspective, enabling hands-on support for application developers and contributing to our infrastructure
  • Extensive experience with scalable data platforms in complex environments, including ownership of platform-critical applications
  • End-to-end infrastructure ownership — CI/CD (GitLab), observability & monitoring (Datadog) — with the ability to create meaningful, actionable monitors
  • Solid Terraform knowledge to confidently navigate, maintain, and contribute to our infrastructure-as-code codebase
  • On-call experience and a clear mindset that critical issues don't follow business hours
  • Solid experience with a Cloud Provider (preferably AWS)
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes
  • Fluent in English, with strong technical communication skills adaptable to diverse audiences.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data warehouse solutions (e.g., Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift)
  • Network/Security knowledge (e.g. SSO, SAML, VPCs, network policies, EntraID)
  • Previous experience working in a central or shared data platform team
  • Exposure to or interest in AI/ML workloads on data platforms

We recognize that everyone carries a unique set of valuable skills and experiences. If you think you could have an impact even though you don't meet 100% of the requirements, we still encourage you to apply. We want to hear from you!
