Community Sales reporting to Community Engagement Manager

Full-time, in-office

Lead the charge in transforming membership sales and retention! STATION Austin is the newly launched nonprofit home for the entrepreneurs, investors, and public-sector leaders who are shaping the future of frontier innovation. We are looking for a high-energy Community Sales Lead to lead the charge in transforming our membership sales and retention and provide a focused structure for a strategically aligned, proactive membership sales experience. As a key builder in our organization, you won't just sell memberships; you will curate the very community that makes Austin a global innovation hub. You’ll use the latest sales technology and AI tools to drive growth, ensure operational excellence, and deliver world-class experiences for the best startups in Texas.

This role will provide and communicate monthly sales goals for the team and report against those goals to the Community Engagement Manager and Managing Director. Additionally, this role will ensure we are maximizing the use of Hubspot for sales pipeline, reporting, and marketing and look for new ways to optimize sales process efficiency.

What you will do…

  • Execute Growth Strategy: Create and execute strategies to increase revenue through new membership sales, retention, and upsells to other STATION Austin engagement opportunities. You are the closer of membership sales.
  • Own the Pipeline: Manage the full sales lifecycle for memberships and office space, ensuring you meet and exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets.
  • Master the Stack: Maximize the use of HubSpot for sales pipeline management and member ecosystem engagement — with built-in processes for retention and upselling — and look for new ways to optimize sales process efficiency using AI-driven automation.
  • Report with Precision: Own the memberships sales budget and forecasting exercises alongside the Community Engagement Manager and Finance Team, develop membership sales and retention KPIs, and provide accurate, data-driven reporting in weekly meetings.
  • Lead the Team: Work with the Community Specialist in achieving high occupancy and retention rates.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with the Community Engagement, Workplace, Events, Marketing, Sponsorships, Programming, and Partnerships teams, as well as all of our Partners, to maximize value creation, participation, and product sales across the STATION community.
  • Curate the Community: Provide a premium experience to all members and visitors of STATION Austin, ensuring we fill the space with the best startups and community partners in Texas.

You'll know you're successful if....

  • Revenue Growth: Membership sales consistently exceed revenue quotas, with the rate of new memberships increasing every month and overall sales growing by at least 10% year-over-year.
  • Operational Excellence: Your sales engagement process is highly efficient, with prospects contacted within 24 business hours via phone or email, and the CRM updated daily.
  • High Retention: The rate of member retention increases year-over-year, and members refer new prospects without being asked.
  • Member Value: New members never cancel due to feeling we oversold the membership offering or its expected value, and you continuously work with the Community Engagement team to find new ways to drive value for our members.
  • Community Stewardship: You handle challenging conversations skillfully, with the ultimate goal of ensuring all members feel safe and valued in the space.
  • AI Efficiency: You have successfully implemented at least one AI-based workflow that significantly reduces repetitive sales or reporting tasks.
  • Trusted Partnerships: You have built productive, collaborative relationships across the Community Engagement, Workplace, Events, Marketing, Sponsorships, and Venture teams, and you work in tandem with the Community Specialist to ensure member onboarding and experience are always top notch.

Requirements

  • You always maintain an accurate pipeline in the CRM and use it extensively to prioritize your activities. Ideally, you’ve used a CRM before.
  • You are a ball juggler and love it when a day flies by because you were so busy interacting with interesting startup founders.
  • You understand this is a sales-related position that comes with inconsistency of earnings that are directly related to meeting and exceeding your objectives. That excites you much more than stresses you out, because of the upside potential it offers.
  • You are outgoing and can talk to just about anyone.
  • You are a documentor. You make lists and spreadsheets.
  • You look for opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and experiment with artificial intelligence tools.
  • You are organized and plan ahead, but you don’t get stressed out when things change at the last minute… because they will. You roll with it.
  • You check your email in the evenings and are available to work during evening events and over the weekends when there is a tight deadline. You do what it takes to get the job done.
  • You have your own reliable laptop computer & smartphone that you are comfortable using for work.
  • You plan to stay in Texas for at least two years.

Benefits

  • 4 weeks paid time off (one week is between Christmas and New Year’s)
  • Personal health, vision and dental insurance paid 100% by Capital Factory
  • Additional benefits such as 401k program (50% company matching), life insurance, short & long term disability and and employee assistance program
  • Parental leave including 10 weeks paid leave for birthing parents and 4 weeks paid leave for non-birthing parents
  • $1,000 personal innovation budget on your first year anniversary and then an additional $500 each anniversary thereafter
  • Coworking membership at Capital Factory with garage parking space, metro pass, or rideshare credits and access to the onsite gym
  • A priceless network

About our team...

  • We have a passion for startups and technology.
  • We are transparent and we over-communicate.
  • We have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • We communicate when we are not able to meet a deadline and suggest a solution.
  • We are professional and presentable and greet everyone cheerfully. We’re ready to deal with an immature student, a pushy salesperson, top VC’s, a fortune 500 CEO, and even the President of the United States.
  • We are excited to work in downtown [Austin/Dallas/Houston/San Antonio] and have reliable transportation.
  • We have a quiet place where we can work remotely with fast internet.
  • We are security aware. We have a passcode on our computers and phones and use a password manager.
  • We are able to efficiently use the Google suite of productivity tools (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • We are available to work at CF House during SXSW (Spring Break), DREAMCON (one week long staff summits twice a year), and Austin Tech Week.
  • We get to Inbox Zero every day.
