Horizon Surgical Systems is an innovative medical device startup developing the first ever robotic system to perform cataract surgery. We are entering an exciting growth phase as we transition from R&D to pilot-scale manufacturing and prepare for clinical and regulatory milestones.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Technician to perform builds, test, debug, and support production of surgical robots as defined below.

Responsibilities include:

  • Mechanical/ Electrical assembly, test and debug with some trouble shooting
  • Follow Manf. Process Instructions and provide DFM feedback to engineers
  • Use hand power tools as needed
  • Electrical benchtop work including, but not limited to, soldering, crimping, electrical harness assembly, wire routing, and cable management.
  • General assembly and maintenance, of robotic and computing equipment
  • Mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic inspection of prototypes with callipers, digital multimeters, oscilloscope, pin gauges, and various other mechanical and electrical measurement tools.
  • Collaborate and maintain clear communication with the engineering team and management
  • Creating, updating, maintaining, and providing feedback on electronic log books, assembly instructions, inventory logs, travelers, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, status reports, and other documentation.
  • 5S workstation and maintain an organized and presentable work area
  • Other reasonable duties

Required Qualifications and Abilities:

  • High school degree or equivalent but higher education/trade school a plus
  • Excellent hands-on skills and experience
  • Extensive experience performing electrical and mechanical benchtop work
  • Good and collaboration & communication skills (verbal, written, and visual)
  • Good organization skills
  • Previous experience with robotic assembly is a bonus
  • Previous experience in a medical or healthcare-related field is a bonus
