POSITION OVERVIEW
The responsibility of the Warehouse Supervisor is to lead and hold accountable the frontline warehouse staff, up to 15 personnel at a time, to achieve performance standards and the daily goals of the customer contracts. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Supervisor will be responsible for the execution of the operational plan and ensures the performance of that plan on the floor. The leader must be pivotal and resourceful to remove obstacles throughout the shift and ensures the successful completion of that plan to finish the day strong. This requires being results oriented, forward thinking and will have a good understanding of distribution processes pertaining to the flow of goods in and out of the facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide daily supervision to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the warehouse
- Ensures compliance with safety, sanitation, and security in accordance with OSHA, SQF and other policies and procedures. Reports any food safety issues to immediate report
- Develop and delegate work schedules and assignments to ensure a winning operation
- Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, coaching and disciplining employees
- Make appropriate adjustments to work schedules and resources to service the customer appropriately and finish the day on time
- Understand inventory and storage utilization, co-mingling of product, rotation of product, and prevents inventory discrepancies
- Communicate daily workflow requirements to the Operations Manager and team to ensure timely completion of scheduled jobs
- Provide input to Operations Manager for performance evaluations, hiring and terminations
- Direct and supervise all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are correct and carried out in a timely fashion, upholding United’s high standards of quality and customer satisfaction
- Tour the facility frequently to answer questions, evaluate operations and solve problems
- Make recommendations to the Operations Manager on programs to improve operations
- Measure and drive performance through KPI’s, data utilization, observation studies to make sound business decisions to elevate floor productivity
- Plan and allocate equipment and resources so that it is utilized in the most efficient manner
- Assist in conducting physical inventories and cycle counts and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies
- Provides training, direction and continuous development to new and current staff
- In conjunction with Facility Maintenance, ensure proper preventive maintenance programs are completed on all equipment
- Review operating goals and standards and monitor achievement

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position works in a warehouse setting and office setting. Warehouse temperatures can vary according to the season.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Three years’ experience in warehousing or comparable industry serving in a leadership type capacity
- Strong user of computer applications and data to support planning and team performance
- Proficient with Microsoft applications, specifically Excel
- At least one-year experience processing orders, transactions and or requests in distribution or comparable industry
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English both verbally and written
- Complete all safety and quality regulatory testing requirements to perform essential job functions
- Proven success leading teams and driving performance
- Experience leading and implementing process improvement type projects with proven results
- Must be able to successfully pass a background screening and drug test
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree or greater in related field
- Customer facing experience in warehousing or similar type industries
- Experience with SAP or ERP type platforms
- Certifications in LEAN, Kaizan, Six Sigma, Just-in-Time, 5S
- Certifications in Supply Chain
