Master Data Manager - 12 month FTC
Naked Wines
Posted 2 days ago
In a nutshell, we’re all about making the world of wine a better place. We fund and source directly from independent winemakers to bring customers better quality wine for a better price. No thirsty middlemen as far as the eye can see.
It’s a different way of doing things, sure. But it works. We’re one of the UK’s favourite wine clubs, shipping over 1 million (!) cases a year to curious wine lovers. And with an ambitious road ahead, we’ve got no plans on plugging the cork on growth.
Our global team (we have offices in the US and Australia, too) is entrepreneurial by nature, obsessive about customer experience and driven by performance. All things that make Naked a great place to grow both personally and professionally. And yes, we like wine. A lot.
It takes a village to be Naked. That’s why we’re always on the lookout for eager talent to join the club. And now, our Technology team is looking for a Master Data Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract to join the fun.
We’re looking for a results-oriented specialist to own and govern our master data as we move into our new Inventory Management ERP system. This is a business-critical position where you will ensure that all data—starting with product, supplier, pricing, and operational data—remains clean, consistent, and scalable as the business grows. This role is focused on long-term data quality and standards rather than system configuration or project delivery; you will act as the central point of ownership for how our master data is defined, structured, and maintained globally.
So if you’re keen to help us take the guesswork out of enjoying great wine (that’s what we’re passionate about), there’s a Naked welcome pack with your name on it. Together, we’ll take Naked Wines to the next level – and share our not-so-well-kept secret with the world.
Location & Flexible Working (delete where needed) - London or Norwich (1 day per week at primary office, 1 trip to the other office per month), this role can be part time (specify minimum hours), a job share and you can opt to work compressed hours.
Requirements
What you'll do
- Data Standards & Taxonomy: Own and maintain the global master data taxonomy, naming conventions, and attribute definitions, ensuring data structures evolve in line with business needs.
- Quality & Governance: Monitor and elevate data cleanliness across product, pricing, supplier, and operational data; identify recurring issues and lead root-cause analysis to drive continuous improvement.
- Data Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete creation, modification, and retirement processes for master data, establishing strict change control for updates to core structures.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the central source of truth for definitions; work closely with the Sage Administrator to ensure consistent entries, and partner with Data & Analytics to guarantee downstream reporting accuracy.
- ERP Transformation Support: Support the broader business units (IMS, Operations, Finance) through data migration validation, data readiness, asset cleansing, and setup activities ahead of go-live.
- Global BAU Stability: Focus heavily on post-go-live stability and optimisation across multiple international markets, ensuring data structures remain completely platform-agnostic (supporting tools like Shopify and beyond).
What you'll bring
- Governance Background: Proven experience managing master data, data governance initiatives, or taxonomy frameworks.
- Industry Context: A strong professional background working within retail, FMCG, supply chain, e-commerce, or similar inventory-heavy environments.
- Process Design: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to build, document, and enforce structured, scalable data workflows.
- Stakeholder Influence: Strong collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and technical administrators without having direct ownership of system configuration.
- Analytical Problem Solving: A pragmatic, independent approach to analyzing data discrepancies, executing root-cause analyses, and implementing practical fixes under deadlines.
- Technical Tooling: Highly skilled with data sorting, management, and documentation toolsets within MS Office Suite (advanced Excel) or Google Workspace.
And finally you live by our Naked values:
- We are Naked Together - We believe that when people come together, great things get better. That is why we put people at the heart of what we do: our Angels, our Winemakers, our People and our Investors. What makes this work is trust, and we protect it diligently.
