In Japan, Second Foundation operates as an aggregator and developer in the electricity market, with a particular focus on battery energy storage systems (BESS), dispatch optimization, and market trading—further strengthening our global commitment to advancing the future of energy.

We are currently seeking a Senior Finance Manager responsible for overseeing accounting operations in Japan. In this role, you will coordinate and manage external accounting service providers and serve as the primary point of contact for local business stakeholders to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial processes in this jurisdiction.

What you would work on?

  • Coordinate external accounting providers — manage relationships, oversee quality and timeliness of deliverables (monthly close, statutory statements, tax filings), and maintain clear documentation of all outsourced activities.
  • Prepare and review financial reporting packages (monthly, quarterly, annual) for Prague HQ, ensuring alignment between statutory and management reporting.
  • Support Group consolidation by providing accurate intercompany data, eliminations, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting, tax, and regulatory frameworks; co-operate with external tax advisors on annual filings and ad hoc tax queries.
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage audit processes across all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for the Japan entity; oversee cash flow and FX exposure management.
  • Act as the primary finance liaison between Japan operations and Prague HQ — support local teams on day-to-day queries, drive process improvements, maintain strong internal controls, and contribute to global finance projects.

What makes you a great candidate?

  • 8+ years in finance / controlling, including a senior role in a multinational environment.
  • Expert knowledge of IFRS; strong J-GAAP; .
  • Professional qualification preferred: CPA (Japan), ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Consolidation process is a plus.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel.
  • Japanese — native/near-native · English — business fluent · Czech — advantage.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
