Job Overview

We’re seeking a Training Requirements Manager to lead the strategy, development, and scaling of Saronic’s Mission Training portfolio across a growing range of autonomous surface vessels—from small USVs to medium and large platforms.

In this role, you will own training requirements spanning curriculum, delivery models, simulation, and operator qualification pathways to ensure mission-ready personnel can safely and effectively operate increasingly complex autonomous systems.

You will work at the intersection of product, operations, and customer engagement, ensuring training systems scale alongside platform capability, mission complexity, and operational demand.

Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Ownership

  • Own the Mission Training product portfolio across multiple vessel classes (small, medium, and large USVs) and emerging new capabilities

  • Define and execute a training strategy aligned with Saronic’s product roadmap and DoD mission requirements

  • Drive improvements in operator readiness, speed to qualification, and mission effectiveness

Training Architecture & Roadmap

  • Develop and maintain the Mission Training roadmap, including curriculum evolution, simulation capabilities, and delivery models

  • Define scalable training architectures that support progression across vessel classes and mission profiles

  • Establish standardized approaches to operator qualification, certification, and currency

Product Development

  • Partner with engineering, instructional design, and training teams to build structured, performance-based training programs

  • Ensure training reflects vessel systems, autonomy workflows, navigation, mission execution, and casualty response

  • Incorporate simulation, distributed learning, and emerging technologies where operationally relevant

Operational Integration

  • Translate field feedback, mission outcomes, and system updates into continuous improvements in training products

  • Ensure training remains aligned with evolving platform capabilities and real-world operational demands

  • Partner with training teams to scale throughput in line with deployment and readiness requirements

Metrics & Readiness

  • Define and track metrics for training effectiveness, operator proficiency, and mission readiness

  • Use data to prioritize improvements and ensure training outputs meet operational standards

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with DoD and commercial stakeholders to understand training requirements, certification expectations, and mission needs

  • Support customer onboarding, training programs, and operational readiness engagements

Cross-functional Leadership

  • Coordinate across Engineering, Product, Programs, and Mission Training teams to align system development with training readiness

  • Partner with Mission Training Managers and Program Managers to scale best practices across sites and platforms

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, training systems, or operational program leadership

  • Strong product judgment and ability to prioritize in fast-paced, mission-driven environments

  • Experience translating complex technical systems into effective operator workflows or training solutions

  • Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing senior stakeholders

Preferred

  • Experience in defense, maritime, autonomy, or other high-consequence operational environments

  • Familiarity with operator qualification pipelines, certification frameworks, or mission readiness standards

  • Experience with training systems, simulation environments, or instructional design

  • Understanding of vessel operations, navigation, and maritime safety

Role Requirements

  • Demonstrated success owning and evolving products or product portfolios in complex, fast-paced environments

  • Strong product judgment, with the ability to identify high-impact opportunities and prioritize effectively amid competing demands

  • Ability to translate ambiguous mission needs, customer feedback, and technical capabilities into clear product direction

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence engineering, operations, and leadership stakeholders

  • Proven ability to operate cross-functionally and drive alignment without direct authority

  • Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to incorporate data, user feedback, and operational insights into product decisions

  • Demonstrated ownership mentality, with accountability for outcomes across the full product lifecycle

  • Ability to synthesize inputs from field operations, customers, and technical teams into cohesive product strategies

  • Comfort engaging directly with operators and training teams to understand real-world workflows and pain points

  • Ability to operate effectively in environments where product requirements and priorities evolve rapidly

  • Willingness to travel up to 25–40% to support training sites, customer engagements, and field activities

Physical Demands

  • Primarily office-based with regular travel to training sites, shipyards, and operational environments

  • Ability to support field activities, including observing training, testing, and deployment events

  • Will be exposed to marine environments, including sun, wind, rain, cold, and saltwater spray, often for extended periods

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work i.e. stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time including up to 12 hours/day
