The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations Safety, the Assistant Manager, Operational Risk and Safety will be a pivotal leader responsible for driving global operational safety, risk management, and strategic cross-functional initiatives.

You will be responsible for exploring and executing different insurance options to enhance the protection of goods being delivered, driving critical risk and data analysis to weed out scams and frauds, and optimizing our proprietary Safety Incident Management Platform (SIMP). This role requires a high-caliber project manager who can seamlessly bridge the gap between global strategy and local market execution while managing complex stakeholder landscapes.

### What you’ll do:
  • Lead Cross-Functional Initiatives: Act as the primary project manager and bridge between functions (Legal, Anti-Fraud, Product, Business Intelligence) and local market Operations/CX teams to enforce priority safety initiatives.
  • Own Safety Infrastructure: Continuously improve our proprietary Safety Incident Management Platform (SIMP) with automation, ensuring it remains a robust tool for cross-team collaboration, incident escalation, and ongoing safety monitoring.
  • Blueprint & Framework Creation: Partner closely with Legal and leadership to build a compliant, comprehensive company-level framework for Lalamove’s Goods Protection Insurance Program and Organized-Crime Detection
  • Global Localization: Design executable claim workflows and actively roll out/tailor the insurance program across multiple markets, adapting to distinct local regulations and operational needs.
  • Fraud Detection & Mitigation: Participate heavily in detecting and preventing suspicious and fraudulent activities, utilizing data analytics drawn from SIMP and the BI team to monitor evolving scam patterns (e.g., user-to-driver scams, helpbuy abuse, driver parcel theft, syndicate operations).
  • Policy Enforcement & Strategy: Collaborate with the AF team to translate fraud strategies into actionable enforcement workflows for CX, Platform Operations, and Local Driver Operations (e.g., facial recognition triggers, dormant account protection, driver banning/suspension protocols).
  • Risk Triggers: Establish and calibrate regular and risk-based trigger mechanisms to proactively detect hacking, account selling, or syndicate transfers.
  • ### What you'll need:

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Experience: A minimum of 6–10 years of professional experience in Operations Safety, Trust & Safety, Risk Management, or Asset Protection (preferably within On-Demand Delivery, Ride-Hailing, Marketplace, or E-commerce industries).

    • Education: A recognized bachelor's degree or above in Business, Law, Supply Chain, Risk Management, Criminology or a related discipline.

    • Project Management Skills: Proven track record of building operational frameworks from scratch and successfully localizing them across regional markets.

    • Data Savvy: Strong capability to leverage data analytics (working with BI teams/dashboards) to track risk patterns and formulate proactive solutions.

    • Language Proficiency: Full professional fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (to effectively collaborate with regional markets and HQ).

    • Preferred Qualifications:

      • Experience launching or managing insurance/claims programs within a digital platform environment.

      • Deep understanding of anti-fraud mechanics, identity verification (facial recognition tech), and syndicate abuse patterns.

      • Exceptional stakeholder management and negotiation skills; comfortable working with legal teams, external partners, and senior leadership.

      • Familiarity with ISO standards, incident response protocols, and high-turnover gig workforce dynamics.
