Role Summary
As a senior insight leader within WPP 650's specialist research & insight unit, The Citizens Consultancy, you will be at the heart of WPP 650's mission, responsible for driving our digital and data-driven insight capabilities. This role is integral in how we leverage data sets, digital signals and social commentary to thoroughly explore, understand, and surface citizens' voices, sentiment and experiences. You will be central to elevating audience understanding, ensuring strategy is grounded in robust data, delivering complex analyses and ensuring insights fuel strategy, planning, and buying. You will deliver a variety of workstreams working collaboratively with the team and our data partners and will also contribute to emerging areas like AI-driven discovery and LLM visibility.
Key Responsibilities in this role:
- Data expertise and insight generation : Serve as an expert on audience intelligence surfacing understanding and insights from a range of data and digital signals such as Tik Tok, Reddit, search and social data. Deliver cultural intelligence and utilise dashboards to keep abreast of trends and content insights providing a continuous flow of audience trends and understanding.
- Innovation : Champion the integration of AI and machine learning into workflows - automating data processes, enabling real-time trend detection. Continuously seek new analytic techniques, data sources, and tools and help lead the development of AI-driven discovery and LLM visibility. Provide expertise by integrating digital data with a wide range of other data and devise innovative digital data collection methods when required.
- Stakeholder & Partner Management: Be a primary day to day contact for insight. Cultivate robust relationships and work closely with data experts and leaders across WPP 650 and wider stakeholders across WPP. Manage key partnerships with digital insight and data providers and proactively evaluate new suppliers.
- Project Leadership: Accountable for designing, establishing and delivering digital and data insight projects, ensuring quality delivery, with strong narratives. Drive team capability in digital research and analytics. Play a pivotal role in client and agency meetings, championing the value of digital insights and contributing to thought leadership.
- Commercial & Legal Acumen: Provide expert knowledge of legal practices including GDPR and AI regulations, with a strong emphasis on data privacy in digital contexts.
Skills and Experience
- Data and Digital Research Mastery: 7+ years experience with exceptional expertise in digital research methods, products, platforms, and tools. Proven experience in mining the digital ecosystem for audience insights and trends, and their application to strategy. Extensive experience with social listening platforms (Brandwatch, Talkwalker or Pulsar etc).
- Audience Expertise: Profound understanding of UK consumer trends, media consumption trends and their impact on a breadth of audiences. Fluent in internet culture and subcultures, and how trends emerge online.
- Analysis, Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Master of collecting, processing and organizing complex quantitative data with a proven ability to perform complex analyses of digital data and develop breakthrough insights that drive strategy.
- Influential Communication: Superior ability to lead dialogues, present complex digital information clearly and compellingly to all levels of seniority, and design high-impact presentations and thought leadership.
- Relationship Building & Collaboration: Ability to cultivate strong client and partner relationships, demonstrating strong influence and willingness to collaborate to foster cross-functional collaboration.
- Project Management Excellence: Expert in design and delivery of complex digital insight projects, ensuring timely, on-budget, and high-quality deliverables.
Preferred (not essential): Knowledge of media industry, research tools & sources such as TGI, YouGov Profiles, IPA Touchpoints
