Oura is looking for a Packaging Program Manager to lead the development and delivery of packaging across new product introduction and sustaining initiatives. This role drives cross-functional execution from concept through mass production, ensuring packaging solutions meet product, brand, cost, quality, sustainability, regulatory, and supply chain requirements.
The ideal candidate brings strong program management discipline, strong packaging development experience, and the ability to align highly cross-functional teams around clear plans, decisions, risks, and milestones. They operate comfortably in fast-moving hardware environments and know how to balance customer experience, operational readiness, and business goals.
This is a remote US role with a slight preference for candidates based in San Francisco, San Diego, or Boston.
What you will do:
- Lead end-to-end packaging program execution for new product development, special editions, and sustaining changes from concept through launch and post-launch support.
- Build and manage integrated schedules, milestones, dependencies, critical paths, and decision logs for packaging deliverables across engineering, operations, and commercial teams.
- Partner across Packaging Engineering, Product Management, Design, Hardware Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Creative, and Marketing to align technical, business, and brand requirements.
- Translate product, technical, and brand requirements into executable packaging plans and drive packaging readiness through development gates, validation builds, ramp, and launch.
- Own cross-functional coordination of key packaging technical deliverables, including structure, materials, artwork, labeling, specifications, tooling, pack-out, and supplier feasibility.
- Drive technical packaging development and validation including design reviews, material selection, manufacturability, tolerance alignment, transit and environmental testing, line trials, and pilot builds.
- Ensure packaging solutions meet the product requirements including protection, reliability, regulatory, sustainability, cost, manufacturability, distribution, and customer unboxing experience.
- Manage packaging-related change control, specification and artwork revisions, BOM alignment, issue resolution, and cross-functional tradeoff discussions throughout development and sustaining.
- Identify packaging program and technical risks early, drive mitigation plans to closure, and coordinate external partners and suppliers to deliver materials, tooling, specifications, and logistics on time.
- Track cost, quality, schedule, readiness, and technical maturity metrics, and manage the overall packaging tracker to improve packaging materials, waste reduction, regulatory alignment, and execution discipline.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in program management, technical program management, or packaging program management in consumer electronics, hardware, or related physical product environments.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional programs from concept through production ramp and launch.
- Strong understanding of packaging development processes, validation milestones, tooling, artwork release, supplier readiness, and manufacturing execution.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules, dependencies, and cross-functional decision-making.
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to present clear status, risks, and recovery plans.
- Experience working with external vendors, contract manufacturers, and global supply chain partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment in ambiguous environments.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and effective at driving accountability across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting premium consumer products with high brand and customer experience expectations.
- Experience with sustainable packaging strategy and execution.
- Familiarity with manufacturing builds, NPI processes, and go-to-market readiness for hardware products.
- Experience partnering with creative, brand, and industrial design teams on packaging development.
- Experience working in fast-scaling companies and balancing speed with process rigor.
What Success Looks Like
- Packaging programs hit major milestones with clear ownership and predictable execution.
- Cross-functional teams stay aligned on priorities, risks, and decisions.
- Packaging is ready for builds, ramp, and launch without avoidable last-minute escalations.
- Solutions meet customer, brand, operational, cost, and quality expectations.
- Leadership has high confidence in program status and recovery planning
