We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Revenue Accounting Manager to support revenue accounting, forecasting, and close activities. This role will focus on technical revenue areas including SSP analysis, carveouts, bundles, and contract reviews, while also supporting critical close processes such as accruals, deferrals, and reconciliations.
This position partners closely with Sales, PLM, Operations, IT, and Legal to support new product launches and evolving revenue streams, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and compliance with ASC 606.
This is a hybrid role, expected to be onsite 3 days a week in our San Jose HQ.
Key Responsibilities:
Close, Reporting & Controls
Execute month-end and quarter-end close activities for global revenue, including but not limited to:
Revenue and contra-revenue accruals (e.g., rev share, services)
Warranty lag and returns reserve analysis
Deferred revenue calculations and schedules
Adjustments and reclasses (e.g., short-term vs. long-term deferred revenue, segment corrections)
Validate system-generated entries (Rev Engine, amortization, waterfalls) and resolve discrepancies
Prepare and reconcile key balance sheet accounts (deferred revenue, accruals, reserves)
Support management reporting and quarterly disclosures related to revenue
Assist with internal and external audits, including SOX and PBC requirements
Prepare and lead Revenue Countdown and communicate status updates during close cycles
Revenue Accounting & Technical Analysis
Review customer and service provider contracts to assess revenue recognition implications
Perform SSP analysis and evaluate carveouts, bundles, and allocation methodologies
Assess Principal vs. Agent considerations and maintain supporting documentation
Analyze bundle structures, lag impacts, and revenue allocation outcomes
Track revenue share arrangements and ensure accurate accruals and reporting
New Revenue Streams & Business Partnership
Partner cross-functionally with Sales, PLM, FP&A, Cost, IT, Legal, and regional teams on new product launches and go-to-market initiatives
Evaluate accounting implications for new SKUs (hardware, services, support, bundled offerings)
Support process design and system setup for new revenue streams (e.g., subscriptions, professional services, support)
Ensure appropriate SSP, revenue allocation, and system configuration for new offerings
Identify risks and recommend solutions to ensure ASC 606 compliance
Forecasting & Planning
Develop and update forecasts across key revenue areas, including channel marketing (contra-revenue), service revenue, and bundled offerings
Support Revenue Countdown forecasting and estimated revenue files
Analyze actual vs. forecasted performance (e.g., shipments, returns) and explain key variances
Process Improvement
Identify and implement improvements across revenue accounting and reporting processes
Support automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and data accuracy
Maintain and improve documentation for revenue processes and controls
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
5+ years of combined experience in public accounting, revenue accounting, or related roles
Strong knowledge of ASC 606 (SSP, carveouts, bundles, deferrals, Principal vs. Agent)
Experience supporting new product launches or revenue stream implementation preferred
Experience with month-end and quarter-end close processes
Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling)
Experience with subscription/revenue systems (e.g., Aria, Stripe Billing) a plus
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
