As a Level Artist at Cloud Chamber, you will join our talented development team to help shape the next installment of the BioShock franchise. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a passionate group of game developers to craft visually stunning and performant 3D worlds that support immersive gameplay—bringing the richly imagined world of BioShock to life.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create the layouts, construct architectural elements, and decorate functional and visually stunning environments.
  • Execute your work in a methodical and iterative way: gathering references and concept art, iterating on layout and composition, and creating architectural kits and prop placeholders to populate your environments.
  • Contribute to the artistic vision of your space, ensure that dependencies are properly communicated, and your work is technically compliant according to best practices established by the Tech Art and Core Tech teams.
  • Create modular kits and collection sets to compose dramatic, believable spaces.
  • Work closely with the Level Design, Modeling, Narrative, Concept, Combat, and Cinematics teams.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, production, and your lead to ensure that project goals and deadlines are met.
  • Receive, give, and apply feedback professionally and effectively while maintaining a constructive attitude.

Skills & Experiences:

  • Previous experience on a 3D AAA title (FPS or third-person) is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in the creation of high-fidelity stylized or sci-fi game worlds in Unreal 5, as well as basic modeling of modular kits and proxy assets.
  • Experience working within cross-discipline strike teams on collaborative assignments.
  • Experience creating and maintaining asset libraries, organized by theme and function.
  • A love for research, reference, and documenting your findings to share with the team.
  • An interest in relevant adjacent disciplines such as architecture, urban design, interior design, photography, film, lighting, and drawing is beneficial.
  • A good understanding of level design and systems utilized to create immersive games.
  • Understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette as it pertains to world building.
  • Familiarity with architectural structure, spatial design, industrial design as it relates to building believable game environments.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $78,900 and $116,760 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for employees in regular roles may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, provided that temporary or intern roles will not be eligible for many of these payments or benefits. Details of participation in compensation and benefit plans (if applicable) will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.If hired, employee will be in an ~at-will position~ and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
